This past Saturday night…if I could borrow a phrase from my Japanese exchange students….I would have to say…"We got so fun party" It was the Caledonia Lounge’s 10th anniversary show.

It started off with the Dinosaur JR/J Mascis love fest but then it quickly moved into a Meat Puppets/Lou Barlow sort of love fest evening(meaning those were the topics most brought up by several folks I ran into)

Kevin Sweeney’s band (Hayride) played and then Kyle’s Spence’s old band (Tom Collins) ….the whole shabangbang ended with a house recording of "The Wagon" from J’s last (and only?) time playing at the Caledonia..solo. What a fun night….I ended up going to sleep around 3:30 AM but… when my little guy woke me up for breakfast at 7AM…I felt pretty good because all I had to drink all night was lots of WATER…..yes, we do get smarter with age. OH, I loved hearing both bands but during "Tom Collins" my husband was standing next to me and I turned to him between songs and sort of yelled in his ear…"So what do you think" and he yelled back "Well, he’s no J Mascis"…my first thought was, hold up,stop the presses…I think he just gave J a complement.

OH and all the bitchin’ I did about the last Dinosaur Jr. show……now I feel like crap because I had NO idea there was "the curse of opening a set with Severed Lips" who knew?…I didn’t…from what I understand…J knew about it and decided that night to tempt fate in order to give Athens a song that is not played very often…the guys gave us a gift and I turned around and bashed it….I’m feeling pretty low right about now.

Okay..done feeling low.
Here are my favorite shots from the evening…turned the flash off for most of them..that’s why they look like they do..the stage lighting was not good but "the flash" was pretty powerful albeit annoying.
