September 10, 2011 at 10:00 am #138500Hey Matt
September 10, 2011 at 1:27 pm #138501Hi guys. essgee, it took me a minute to translate your name. 😉
What’ve you guys been up to? I’ve got a wife and a 2yo daughter now. Keeps me busy. 😀
September 10, 2011 at 6:00 pm #138502Congrats on fatherhood!
It`s the usual with me.Collecting jazz records and listening to music
What have you been listening to?
September 12, 2011 at 4:00 pm #138503Yep its been a little bit for me too. I seem to keep in touch with some of the old schoolers on FB now. For a while there the site didn’t jive with the browser we used at work, so it became a hassle to log on. Might be cool again though.
September 13, 2011 at 10:24 pm #138504I have one of those Facebooks. Maybe some of you can track me down. 😉
SG, amongst all the usual stuff, I’ve been really into some of the old Stray Cats rockabilly stuff, and even taking it a bit back further than that. I’d love to start incorporating some of that style into the stuff I write (without being pure rockabilly, since I’d find that limiting to my over-all anything-goes-as-long-as-I-like-it music tastes.
On a completely opposite note, I’ve landed in a Prog-ish sort of band (we call ourselves “Garage Prog”). It wasn’t really my style, at first, but a friend needed some guitar support. I’ve really grown to appreciate it and I’m having lots of fun (plus none of the rest of the band really comes from prog roots, so we are able to keep it stabilized in a unique balance of not-too-proggy). 😛

September 14, 2011 at 8:26 am #138505I like rockabilly too.The old stuff like Warren Smith,Charlie Feathers,Wanda Jackson,Johnny Burnette… I assume you`ve heard Hasil Adkins? He`s a complete nut but really good! I used to be into a band called The Paladins from California. They`re a mix of blues and rockabilly. Now broken up but they were great back in the day. This is an old Gatemouth Brown tune:

Speaking of the Stray Cats.I dig a couple of Lee Rocker`s solo albums.Check out this Hank Williams cover:

I like your band.Especially the Deep Purple-ish organ!
September 16, 2011 at 8:36 am #138506Yeah I`ve heard of Gatton before. He reminded me of Roy Buchanan. Both died under similar circumstances oddly enough.Buchanan started out playing rockabilly with Dale Hawkins. He was even offered to join the Rolling Stones before they got Ron Wood.
September 16, 2011 at 1:39 pm #138507He commited suicide by gunshot.I remember a jazz album from the early `90s he played on.I really need to get that album.I found a song on Youtube from it

I assume the Lenny reference is about Lenny Breau,a jazz guitarist who died mysteriously in 1983
October 3, 2011 at 6:13 am #138508Hi Matt
I’ve come back after a while too.
Someone ask if Eggwater is still playing? Sure as hell! I’ll Never give up on that dream.
What’s Wiggly?
October 3, 2011 at 1:48 pm #138509ha ha – Seventeen Sockets – this is pretty recent collaboration with the drummer from my old band Lord Mongo. Two guitarists, loop pedals and a lot of analog stompboxes. Most recent thing I’ve done to be honest – from August.
Is there still a thread on here where people post their versions of dinosaur songs?
*that link goes to my youtube homepage BTW. I just got confused thinking you’d linked to one my tunes.
So I still don’t know what wiggly is
PS. Matt liked yr new band. And Prog isn’t a dirty word!
November 13, 2011 at 9:33 am #138510Happy birthday Matt 🙂
