Listen to “Tiny” and watch Dinosaur Jr premier it live on Jools Holland

Live Video, News

You can listen to the studio version of “Tiny”, the first single from the upcoming album “Give A Glimpse Of What Yer Not“, and watch them debut it live from last night’s Later with Jools Holland.  If you pre-order a bundle directly you will get a download of the track instantly!

I’m pretty sure this is the first time Dinosaur have performed on Jools but if that is not correct let me know (and please provide video proof) 🙂

You can also pre-order the album from Amazon or iTunes.

For those of you that try to collect all the vinyl variants I understand that Amoeba records has the Translucent blue release as an exclusive through them.

Day of the Dead

Day of the Dead (Greatful Dead Tribute) is now streaming

News

J Mascis joins Kurt Vile and the Violators to cover The Greatful Dead‘s “Box of Rain” in the enormous new “Day of the Dead” tribute album.

Day of the Dead is a new 5xCD , five-and-a-half-hour compilation produced by the National’s Bryce and Aaron Dessner as a benefit for the Red Hot organization. With a cast of dozens drawn from a cross-section of indie-ish musical worlds, the set, like its MTV predecessor, signals another milestone in the San Francisco band’s profound influence on American music, closing old circles and opening new ones. In the same way that no single Grateful Dead show (or song performance, or even era) could ever be definitive, the 59 tracks of Day of the Dead represent (merely!) a major entry in the ever-deepening catalog of Grateful Dead covers, interpretations, and reinventions. Already containing universes, the Dead’s songbook is what makes the set enjoyable as a whole, transcending the performers and their translations. Perhaps even more than those of Bob Dylan (no stranger to covering the Dead), the songs of Jerry Garcia and lyricist Robert Hunter welcome musicians of all stripes—loud and quiet, singers and instrumentalists, big-eared non-virtuosos and players alike.”

First look at the artwork for Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not

News

The new artwork for Dinosaur Jr‘s upcoming album “Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not”  has popped up on the Amazon UK website along with a uk release date of Aug 5, 2016. The full track listing is not yet available but I have heard two track titles are “Tiny” & “Love Is”.

One other interesting tidbit from the wonderful Loobiecore forums.

“i did have J play bass on one of my tunes  (played all gtr myself) on this LP.. the next step would be having J drum on my demos and consult with him on song structure etc. which i would prefer to do simply for quality sake, he has a terrific sense of composition and drumming hooks..” Lou

You can pre-order at Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not Amazon now but there may be some direct bundles available from Dinosaur Jr / Jagjaguwar soon so you may want to hold off.
