      (from another forum)

Show last night was fantastic, smaller crowd than I thought there’d be. Only one douche bag who jumped on stage during Been There All the Time, J jabbed him with his guitar, then he feel over onto Murph’s tom, then banged into Lou and made his strap on his bass come off, but they still managed to finish the song okay. Said stage jumper was acting like a cunt in the crowd anyway. The rest of the crowd was good, lots of older dudes/couples. And well behaved young’uns, only causing a minor ruckus.
Amazing show, even though I was dead tired. My ears are still ringing and probably will be for another couple days. Pick me Up solo was rad. I’m not sure if I’m missing any non beyond songs, looking at other set lists it seems a little thin, but I was sober and I really don’t remember any kracked/sludgefeast/just like heaven/bulbs of passion/gargoyle, or other older songs I was expecting them to play.

Im going to reply to a few of the threads you have posted about the Aus/NZ gigs in here, i hope you dont mind…

What gives with the poor vocals? I thought it was just due to the venue that they played at in Auckland, but after reading several reviews it seems to be a problem at most of the gigs. For the Auckland gig it seemed like an entirely instrumental gig cos i could hear no vocals at all

Does anyone know why we didn’t get a Lou Barlow solo set? It was advertised in either Xpress or Drum Media or both that we would be. ???

I don’t know but just "tuning" into those guys and this tour makes me tired. It must be taxing to just be going and going night after night. Dr. Stefka suggests J Mascis heads home soon to help "fluff the nest". 12 weeks or so and counting. Just enough time to enjoy sleeping soundly through the night………….It could be the last time he sleeps through the night in like two years. Lou should go home and make a sibling for Hannelore, I bet she would just adore a little sister or brother. Ahhh, Murph, I think he’s okay for now, J and Lou’s kids need one of those "uncles" who never had children to hit up for money from time to time. I’m tired, I’m going back to bed.

they seem to be playing awesome setlists.

as for the vocal situation. theyre just a LOUD band, most shows ive seen the vocals have been pretty low and the band is just more concerned about being loud musically and thats that. i feel the same way with my band. blaring the vocals is just awkward.

Lou was playing warmups and then playing bass with dino? That’s alot of work. It’s cool they’re playing crumble, hope the fans Like it. It’s one of the best new songs.

                I kinda agree Annastefka.

Funny thing is, I thought the vocals at the first Irving Plaza show were mixed too high, which is one of the things I didn’t like about the show. J wasn’t in good voice that night, and some of those notes he *wasn’t* hitting made me want to start howling like a dog. Having the vocals buried beneath the wall of guitar, bass, and drums is sometimes a good idea.

Yeah, it has become quite usual for J’s music I think. The natural way of thinking is to let the vocal be on top ,clear of all instruments, but with Dinosaur it’s kind of different. The vocal often fits the spaces between the instruments somehow. hehe

yeah when i play i like to hear what im singing but i dont want my vocals too high in the mix i like my guitar real loud and i like to be able to hear the bass and drums well too. though i dont play with 6 marshall speakers… haha.

                        i fucking love crumble.

i agree with anna but they just released an album, theyre obviously gonna tour to premote it. i understand family (esspecially newborns) allways comes first, and i see lou and J as both caring people who arent neglecting family but they both seem to love touring and playing as well. plus this is a big time for them to get very financially stable.. and make alot more mone than that uncle with no kids. it’s their job..

J was still in town today (Monday the 16th) – I saw him in Shafto Lane at about 12:40pm. I was in a cafe having lunch. I didn’t think it would be appropriate for me to drop everything and run screaming after him.

Damn, those are some big glasses.

Um, yeah, show was good too. Except no Lou supporting. The support act must have had a "don’t come near the stage" policy or something.

And what about Three-Song Tommy? What a knob-end! Did anyone see if J actually connected when he jabbed at him with his guitar?
