March 16, 2006 at 2:22 pm #115171Just got word back from David Markey
Quote:david j. markey 2:55 pm
the work has been done on this for 2 years now, and it’s not up to us to release. it’s in the hands of universal, and if enough people would write them, except me (the filmmaker), it just might come out someday.-d. markey
I am now looking for an email address that I could use to get these requests ‘high enough up the food chain’ to register to them that demand for this release is here.
I’ll start digging around a few Universal websites to see if I can find a contact that looks promising now.I believe if we start doing this in some sort of organized mannor (posting about it on MySpace, Other band forums (SY, Nirvana, Ramones….) we could probably bend someones ear.
So who is with me?
If we get the right contact info I’ll just setup a form so we can streamline the process.
March 16, 2006 at 9:04 pm #115172I’m all for it.
Now we just need to work on getting "Decline of Western Civilization" on DVD.
March 17, 2006 at 3:18 am #115173I’m there…
If Jeremiah is gonna do the research, the least we can all do is fill in and email a form!

My first post here….Seems like a nice forum indeed.

I remember reading about the dvd on sy.com…A long time ago.So it puzzles me that it´s not out yet.Surely a huge demand for it.
March 17, 2006 at 5:29 am #115175Oh – reminds me – welcome to freakscene.net!
I did not even notice that you were new to the site. We have a great community of music fans with a common thread of J’s music here. Make yourself at home
Ok – I think I have a plan to get in order. Thanks to those of you that have contacted me about this already.
I know we have a bunch of great writers around here – If some of you would not mind helping on that front let me know.March 17, 2006 at 9:31 am #115176let me know if i can help

Thanks! You can!!

If you (or anyone else that is interested) do not mind.
– stage 1 (info gathering)
* we need to gather some relevant links of the higher traffic (related) band sites, movie reviews and quotes.
* images – see what we can find (and get permission) to use to represent the film.
* Reviews or testimonials from you guys about the flick. We will know be known as the 1991 Committee. (maybe)

would be nice if we could generate enough interest in this for the end result to be a re-release of the extended dvd along with select theaters playing it (I did not catch it on the big screen myself).March 17, 2006 at 11:22 am #115178and so it begins…..

March 18, 2006 at 12:31 am #115180wow yeah of course I would love to see the dvd version myself cant wait
🙂April 7, 2006 at 3:41 am #115181WOW!
Was only talking about this yesterday with some friends!
I know someone sort of high up in re-issues and special projects at Universal in the UK and I am gonna mail him today to a). draw his attention to this fantastic MySpace site and b) say ‘come on man get involved!’.
I have for years thought I am in the film (shot of the back of my head as Babes In Toyland played at Reading…). VERY long red (ok ginger
hair. Ha ha ha. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking!!!
I can honestly say that the day that Babes, Dino Jr, Nirvana and Sonic Youth played at Reading was one of the greatets days of my life. Well in the top 10 anyway
The thing is the film actually does kinda capture how GOOD, how AMAZING! that day was. Sorry to blather on.
I’ll let y’all know what the response is (if any) from me man at Universal. If they don’t wanna do it Dave Markley should license it back from them and go to Plexi Film. They do all the great DVDs like Wilco film, Renaldos Drift project and the forthcoming Minutemen doc.
I’ve always thought the problem with getting a re-issue out was getting clearance and oks from all the different artists and labels involved.
But hey! Bring it on!!April 7, 2006 at 8:47 am #115182Wow, this is great news. Work that Uni UK connection!
