Word from my man at Univeral – ‘it’s being looked into’……..so…. more news when I have it

So yup the issue IS clearance and in particular as feared the Nirvana minefield.
My contact says they (meaning US Universal special projects/ops or back cat or whatever!) are well aware of the film and that it is ready to roll (with extras!).
The word is it WILL come out… at some point.
I reckon once Ms Love has sold her share of the rights to the Cobain estate we’ll get deluged with Nirvana stuff, including 1991: TYPB.
I for one cannot wait.

i didnt know they were going to put this on dvd thats awesome.i have a copy of it on vhs but i want to see all the extra stuff on there.so no one knows a release date yet?

The Year Punk Broke is one of my favorite music documentarties of all time. What an excellent film. I love the part where Thurston is just free styling while Kurt and Kim dance on the railroad tracks. Hilarious.

Also, the part where Kurt just comes in the back room after the gig and swings that bottle of champagen everywhere and whips it across the room. Funny shit.

Not sure if anyone has touched on this before?? But maybe because theres some Nirvana footage on the video its court up in that whole Love v Grohl/Krist thing
