Hey folks,

Sorry if I’m getting annoying but I was thinking about two bands that no-one has mentioned yet.

Smog and Yo la tengo. Are these two good?

Yo la Tengo are very good, best starting points (in my opinion): "I can hear the heart beating as one", or their latest cd "And then nothing turned itself inside-out" (one of my favourite albums of last year).

Smog is not one of my favourites, some beautiful songs (‘Dress sexy at my funeral’ is a brilliant song from their latest album), I saw them live last year at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, it was one of the most boring gigs I’ve ever seen (…and the bar was closed during the show, don’t know how I survived…)

And it’s never annoying to discuss good music!!!!!

Yo La Tengo is one of my fav bands;I mentioned their videos the other day in this section,go back and read it.
For Yo La Tengo albums check out I Can hear The Heart Beating As One;Smog is boring sometimes, sometimes not too bad.

On a Yo la Tengo tip, maybe you can help:

I once saw a video of theirs. It was black and white and was of them arriving and setting up the equipment in a practice room, playing a bit and packing away again. The song was really cool. What was it?

That video is`nt in black and white but it sounds like the same video;check out the other videos if that`s not the one.

What is early Smog like-? is it as dreary as the later stuff? Dongs of Sevotion was good in places but often- YAWN!

Nige-I like a few Smog songs here and there but I would`nt buy an album by them unless it was cheap.
I don`t like Bill Callahan`s voice,it`s just dull.If you see any of their records around cheap you may want to check it out,it may have a few good songs on it,but I would`nt spend alot of money on one of their albums.
I`m just giving my opinion, someone else might love them.
