Due to the fact that ‘you’re living all over me’ has been out of print for a while, i just heard it for the first time yesterday, after buying the remastered version.
before that, all i had was ‘without a sound’ – so please forgive me and my dino jr ignorance.
      anyway, here are my questions:

1 what happened to the album ending with frampton’s "show me the way"?

2 (this question is prob dumb – but i want to make sure my cd is not defective) is the cure cover (which i guess is substituting the frampton cover) supposed to cut off suddenly at the end?

big thanks to anyone who anwers me without ripping my ignorant head off. :)

I heard that when they originally recorded that track, the tape ran out or something, and they just left it at that.

I got the package of the three Dino CD’s in the mail yesterday and I’m liking them. Haven’t read the booklets yet, but the sound is excellent.
Esp on Bug and Dinosaur. Dinosaur sounds totally awesome, and it is just begging to be played really loud. YLAOM kinda sounds the same to me.

I think on YLAOM, Kracked ends a little early.
The Freak Scene Video is nice too. kinda weird, but ok nonethe less.

Interesting. I think this might be the best of the reissues. Dinosaur obviously sounds TONS better but the feedback that bridges Kracked and Sludgefeast on YLAOM totally rocks! I’d never noticed it before on the old version.

the reason you hadnt noticed it is cause it wasnt there, it was like that on the vinyl, and when it first came to cd, the kracked and sludgefeast were split up. j talked about how he put them back together when he remastered it. i like it that way, the true way. haha

I must say that it’s fantastic that someone who has just had a little exposure to Dinosaur Jr before is now discovering their back catalog due to these reissues. Merge is doing a good job.

i’ve been looking in used cd stores all over the place for copies of YLAOM and Bug for 2 years now. i was very excited when i found out that merge was rereleasing them. before, all i had was an old copy of "without a sound" that i got about 6 years ago from a bargain bin. i always thought that album was pretty good. it has some good songs on it and a couple awesome ones. I really wanted to here the out-of-print SST albums though-and hear what all the fuss was about.

going back to YLAOM (awesome album) – it sucks that "just like heaven" gets cut off. it happens at the best part of the song.

I got without a sound at a bargin bin too. my intro to Dinosaur jr. I loved it and it made me want to get the rest of their stuff which totally blew me away.

yeah the just like heaven thing is frustrating but then you get used to it and learn to love it.

yeah, i don’t mind it at all.

Me neither. Used to drive me nuts but it is just a cover after all and covers need to vary a little from the originals

It`s been 12 years since I got Where You Been which was my first Dino album so the reissues came at the right time :) YLAOM was hard to find for the longest time,I did`nt find it til 1998 in a used store.

I, by pure dumb luck, managed to stumble across both YLAOM and Fossils one night at a local music store (Vinyl Fever), sometime back in ’95, I think… One of those right-place-at-the-right-time deals. I don’t think I’ve had such an awesome find since… 8)

I haven’t been by that place in a while, since it’s on the other side of town from me… I should venture out there again sometime soon. :)

Oddly, I didn’t even know the old albums were out of print until the anouncement of the remastered versions. I think I bought my copies back in the late 90’s sometime but I konw I buy my cousin a copy of YLAOM in like 1999. I think I just got it through CDNow. I’m surprised everyone else had such a hard time finding them for so long.

                                  You got lucky!

I picked up Dinosaur used in 93 at Cheapo Records in Minneapolis… 8)

The rest I picked up new, wouldn’t mind reissues a of couple more discs :!:
