Yeah I think “Chunks was last because it was the only one I didn’t know. I (luckily) chose to drive up to the show because I didn’t want to draw money out to get the train so I stayed for the whole thing, and was at the front from “Forget The Swan onwards. Managed to get one of J’s picks as well, which was cool because his had actually been used, rather than the ones big rock stars buy in bulk to throw out into the crowd (having said that I am still proud of my Sabbath reunion 2005 Tony Iommi pick).
That was indeed one hell of a noisy show. My ears are only just starting to get back to normal.
Who was the support bloke? He was great, but maybe a bit of an overlong set. Still, the pricks at the top who were bellowing at him needed to shut up.
How did the mix sound further back? I was pretty much in front of J the whole time and found it difficult to hear anything else. Still, not the noisiest show I’ve seen.
During “Chunks a fat guy ran on with another guy on his back and they generally fucked around for a while, then fell onto the kit, then J picked up the china cymbal and chucked it on the floor. After 4 encores they finally left the stage. I still shouted for “Mountain Man though, never mind.
September 1, 2005 at 1:20 am #112330Ok – just add my tuppence in.
Er… what a great night! What a great show!!
I started watching on the balcony but by Sludgefeast was down in the crowd – then up front positioned between J and Lou – right in front of Murph.
Does anyone remember the plastecine cartoon character Morph – kids tv show in the early 80s. Morph had a friend called Chas. Murph is now a dead ringer for Chas! I guess you have to be from the UK and the wrong side of 30 to know what I’m talking about here:)
The set worked great I thought. Well the album is perfect imo – but the encores were very cool indeed.
J knocking the cymbal over made me laugh!! So punk rock man…..
As discussed only downer was idiots shouting / talking really loud at the front during Poledo. I mean… wtf! Shut up for one minute will ya – this is a total one off!!
I think Kokos ok. They have air conditioning!! How cool is that….for a UK club thats pretty unheard of! Whatever next cold beer? It was a VERY hot night. Roll on Mudhoney in 2 weeks.
One things that shocked me was the size of Js stack I mean 3 x Marshall stacks! Thats bigger than what he had at the Forum. It wasn’t ‘too’ loud either. In fact sound wise from where I was it was probably the best sound I’ve heard at a Dino J gig – and I’ve been going to see them since 1989.Picked up a gig poster at the end – really nice quality paper print. Cool image – # 73 of 80 I think. £12 – not bad! Gonna get it framed!

he was AWFUL. just terrible, self-indulgent rubbish. still, each to his own
September 1, 2005 at 1:58 am #112332Aah OK. That explains it then cos I couldn’t remember them doing Chunks and thought I must have been going mad. Bugger, thats a damn shame that I had to leave after Don’t, only missed one song but seems like it was a great, great ending to the gig.
Did anyone notice if they were filming? I didn’t see any cameras but I would be surprised if such a one off gig wasn’t officially taped – if only for posterity rather than commercial gain. How great would it be for them to release the whole gig as a bonus disc with the forthcoming official DVD? Anyone know a release date for that by the way?
Also finally got hold of a purple cow shirt after many years of trying. Shame it doesn’t have the Big G gorilla on the back anymore. Still you can’t have EVERYTHING.
By the way, the support guy was called Alexander Tucker. I liked his set although I can understand that it perhaps went on a bit too long. There was however, in my opinion, very little need for people to shout "bollocks" after each track he did. If its not your cup of tea then go to the bar!

oops. quite right – i got the last two in the wrong order.
September 1, 2005 at 2:09 am #112334Argh!!! That’s soooo annoying I missed the last two tracks as I was joking to myself that they should do Don’t. Naymind anyway, my ending was good enough for it to be a brilliant gig and the last train called. I usually hate music dvds but methinks this one will be a must have.
September 1, 2005 at 2:27 am #112335Personally speaking I thought the Alexander Tucker set was kinda great. He was rocking a Six Organs Of Admittance/Currituck Co vibe. All the way from Tunbridge Wells no less! Psychy folk! Lets have it!
I guess we could have had, I don’t know, some modern bottom feeding sub-grunge rubbish like 9 Black Alps or something, but Dino Jr seems to pick cool supports…September 1, 2005 at 3:00 am #112336Alternatively we could have had none of the droney rubbish, had Dino on earlier and me in bed before 2am! That would have been better

Had to register just to report HOW good the gig was last night.
Ive seen em a few times over the years, at least ten times and this was by far the best.
4, yes 4 encores. We were in ecstacy.
First time Ive moshed for ten years. Wow….double wow. We drove back up North after the gig…crazy nights….little sleep….ears killing me. Doubly worth it.
Only shame is the air of finality about the whole night. It was so good…the band knew how good they were last night….I sensed they were bowing out…..hope not.
Astonished
September 1, 2005 at 4:11 am #112338Fantastic gig, i enjoyed it maybe a bit more than the forum gig i went to on the 8th of june.
My 2 mates who didn’t know dino that well were suitably impressed and really enjoyed themselves as well.
Saw some guy near me on the first level with a video camera but don’t know wether he was recording the whole set or not as i didn’t see it for the entire show. Had a good spot, hope he posts it on free so free.net. Meant to ask him before we left the place, never mind, fingers crossed.Don’t think it’s the end of dinosaur tho, will probably tour again i reckon!
September 1, 2005 at 4:41 am #112339there was a guy in dublin at the side of the stage and then in front of the stage with a handheld camera, i’ve heard of a possible DVD mentioned on a msg board so hopefully..
September 1, 2005 at 5:06 am #112340From what I can gather the gig was late(ish) starting as the band were kinda delayed getting into the country from Dublin (or so I was told). But agreed an earlier start would have been cooler – then I wouldn’t personally have had to get a dodgy night bus and witnessed a gang fight/stabbing!! Jesus – kids these days!! There was claret everywhere…. No one seriously hurt (well the stabbed kid and his mates ran off REALLY fast..).
Still even that couldn’t ruin last night!Roll on that DVD!
September 1, 2005 at 6:45 am #112341Someone had to have taped this. We need to hear don’t lose and poledo
