Interesting night. Met lots of nerds (thanks for keeping me company guys, much appreciated).
The Instant were freakin awesome and did not sound like Tool. I’m pretty sure they won a few new fans.
Lou was cool but the majority of the crowd were talking his entire set. The dude down the front telling everyone to shut up was gold (and sorely needed). The tunes weren’t amazing but it was cool to see/hear.
DJ were awesome from the get go. Unfortunately, about 5th song, some FUCKWIT threw a beer can at J and it hit him in the head. He played on for a few seconds then left the stage while Lou and Murph finished the song and walked off, too. When the house music came on I was scared they were finished but luckily came out a few mins later. Lou was being way nicer than he should had to have been and asked everyone to be cool. Seems like the nicest bloke ever.
Played the rest of the set with a few dickheads moshing near the front. One guy got kicked out and on his way out, a dude who had the shits with him tried to fight him. That was pretty funny but definetely warranted. Few other wankers in the crowd but oh well.
Forget The Swan was my highlight of the night.
Got an Instant 10", DJ 7" and poster.
And 2 cold beers and a warm one.That was completely fucked, the whole can thing that is.

Despite that, great show, as good as Fuji Rock in 05.

I can’t get J’s reaction to it out of my head, he just strummed his guitar a couple of times while looking blankly in the direction of where the can had been thrown, he just looked so sad but not angry and looked as if he was sighing while casually taking the guitar strap off and dropping his guitar. I was surprised they came back out.
I absolutely adore this band but can kind of find them frustrating live. Fucking loved The Lung & Forget the Swan. New stuff had balls, when they came back on after Feel the Pain, I felt so awestruck with that intro to Pick Me Up & J’s what was it, like a 4 minute solo? Back to Your Heart was rad too.
Think they were due to play another song after Chunks as J had another guitar set up during the encore break which he didnt end up using. I was even more surprised that they came back out & played that encore, considering the crowd, why should they.
I was there for both sydney shows and J getting hit in the head was definatly the low point! which was a shame because feel the pain was the first dinosaur jr i ever heard and is still one of my favourites couldn’t get a recording of it the 2nd night (security already warned me) . J looked really disapointed at the whole incident I dont understand some people why come see a show of a band your meant to like only to do that and ruin it for everyone else……idiots!

not that i blame the band but it was prob they worst dino gig i’ve seen.
I cant believe such a small bunch of pricks can ruin a show for so many, it was the same drunken douchebags that kept calling out, ”play out there,” at the reunion show in sydney last year… dumbasses
there was only a handful or two of these dicks but at one stage they’d pissed off enough people that i thought the show was gonna be stopped… oh year security was a joke!
