April 25, 2006 at 10:42 pm #116718Hmm I’ve always wanted to go to Canada, MOntreal would be my first stop though. But I think J could change the destination.

I just got some of the Czhec absinth but I heard its not the real deal.I guess that comes down to how "real deal" is defined. Besides personal preferences as for taste, aniseed dominance, herb deposits etc, the important parameter should be the thujon (the active substance in wormwood) content. Absinths with up to 35 mg/kg are readily available here in Czech Republic as well as many other European countries – they can be legally sold if declared as "bitter spirit". Products with higher concentrations can of course be obtained as well…
For sure some Czech "absinths" are shit – cheap vodka with neon green dye.

Wow, we’ve got an absinthe expert here. I’m impressed. The drink was banned in Holland for a long time, strange when you think of the pot-policy here. But now it is free and hyping. I haven’t taste it yet, but this post is a good reminder.

They sell some of the best absinthes available, mainly — if not exclusively — of French origin. I’ve ordered from them a couple times. It’s not cheap, but it’s excellent quality, and the delivery is super-fast. Definitely a trustworthy company. A couple glasses of wine, a couple tokes, and a glass of absinthe make for the beginnings of a fine evening.

May 5, 2006 at 6:34 pm #116723czech absinthe is good.. it is ususllay higher in thujone but worse in taste. you just have to add more sugar… i make my own absinthe infusion sometimes with everclear… it take about a month though..
May 6, 2006 at 1:40 am #116724I’d love to buy some. I’m on absinthe now. I love it, I don’t even take a shot, and I feel incredible.
May 9, 2006 at 4:41 pm #116725Was sailing this weekend, briljant weather (sunny and bft 6-7) When we came to a small harbour we went to a café and after some wine I asked the tender if he had absinthe. He had. BUT the 80% one. He gave us ( 5 people) a very tiny glass with this substance and we alle sipped it. MY GOD. You could feel exactly the road from mouth to stomage.
The bartender told us that he never drank it, he only used it for…firespitting…
May 11, 2006 at 12:28 pm #116726heh. heh
was at an absinthe fueled party once–I wasn’t on it–as I’d had a sip and nothing happened so I figured it was maybe a derivative–but everybody looked quite fucked up. By the way, I saved people’s ass at that party since everyone was putting out their cig butts in potted plant soil and it was catching on fire–actually, I caught it before it caught on… give me a frikkin’ medal !

LOL, thats what I love about it

I like to place a sugar cube on a slotted spoon, pour the absinthe over the sugar into the glass, light the liquor drenched sugar cube on fire, pour a little cold water over the beautiful flame & sugar into the absinthe, give it a stir & bottoms up…

Firespitting
I’ve never been brave enuf to try that, althou a couple of the above drinks & I might try it -
