I’m not so long on (the) board and I’m reading and learning a lot.
I would like to have the opinion of freakscene members about this question. What is the best (2001)album you’ve bought this year?
I’m going (for sentimental reasons) for:
The Strokes..Is this it

Mogwai-Rock Action
Tindersticks-Can Our Love
Lucinda Williams-Essence

Haven’t made up my mind yet, but some strong contenders are:

Ryan Adams – Gold
Mercury Rev – All is dream
Steve Wynn – Here come the miracles
The White Stripes – White bloodcells
Built to Spill – Ancient melodies of the Future

and some strong outsiders:
Sanford Arms – Too loud for the snowman
Pinback – Blue Screen Life
Preston School of Industry – All this sounds gas

Somewhere in December you will read my top 10 of 2001 somewhere on this board!

ps. compilation of the year: EBC!!!

Grammy Contenders (so far):

Dylan’s newest
Radiohead – Amnesiac
Tool – Lateralus
REM – Reveal

I think REM’ll win because Dylan did 3 years ago and lord knows they’ll never give it to Radiohead.

I’m going to have to go with Fugazi "The Argument" for my favorite album of the year. Its only been out for a few weeks, but it’s incredible. Amnesiac is pretty up there too.

Sappy-the Anti Pop Consortium is fun, heard them on the radio before.
Overexposed-have`nt heard the new Fugazi yet but heard that it`s really good;I thought End Hits was good even though some critics did`nt like it.

Then again, Nebula’s new album is very GREAT…

Does anyone else own it here?

i don’t have the album, but I saw them live last year, they opened for Motorhead, and they rocked my sweet ass almost as hard as Lemmey did.

Yeah, I saw them when they opened for Mudhoney on August 30th, they rocked VERY hard…

Check out their new album ‘Charged’…I ordered it straight from subpop on vinyl for like $7.00 shipped.
