Have you heard the Dirty Three`s Ocean Songs album?It`s not diverse as Horse Stories but still one of their best work.

A great Fahey album to hear is Days Have Gone By from 1966.It`s one of the best guitar records few people know about.

Great call on the John Fahey album, not all of his stuff is to my taste but I loved that one. You know others to recommend? I’m gonna get the rest of the dirty three’s stuff if it’s anywhere near as good as Horse Stories.

For Fahey:The Yellow Princess is another good one though more produced than the home recording sound of Days Have Gone By.The Great San Bernadino Birthday Party caught my ear as well.
The Dirty Three really peaked on Horse Stories and Ocean Songs.Whatever You Love You Are is a good one too.
