this is a great song. it sounds ‘psychedelic’ which i think J wanted to be under as. in the YLAM booklet it shows a poster behind J saying ‘Dinosaur Jr – Loud Psychedelic Rock’.

yeah, it’s a great one. the first time i heard it, i realized that J is right up there with Hendrix for using the guitar to express transcendent feelings…and thanks to this board, i found out what the song is actually about.

something about the line ‘time to come with me son, you’ll be gone for quite awhile’ that has always grabbed me.

it’s about J finding some peace through the teachings of Amma, the ‘hugging saint’…sorry, i can’t remember what forum/thread i read that in…

Is the Amma Ring like a ring of people who are into Amma or is he talking bout the bell that rings at the begginging of service?

just a guess, but i think ammaring might be a verb in this case, as in ‘to ring Amma’. i’ve never heard of this word before, but maybe it means the vibes of this lady make adherents ‘ring’ in some literal or metaphorical way.

on Freesofree.net there’s a download of it somewhere live where he’s playing it on an electric-acoustic and he comes out with an amazing solo. blew my mind.

I love this song. It’s my second favorite off my new disc. I had never heard this word before either, but to keep guessing about what it means makes it even more magical.
