our 2nd db Charles Tillman out for at least a month…we have a couple back ups covering randy moss on the w/e…  :!:

But, the vikings are vulnerable, they didn’t look so good last night so…

Well, we kept it close, considering our injury situation, I think we did pretty pleasing…although it’s always painful to lose :( :!:

We had five starters out on defense, including the mighty Urlacher

Worst part of the game, Rex Grossman qb running for a touch down, ruptures his ACL, taken out of the game on a cart…lost for the season

At least the touchdown counted, only when the replay officials had a look at it though. The referees yesterday sucked in so many ways, they even called a penalty on #34 of Chicago…Walter Payton died years ago guys, no BEAR uses that number  Picked up a pass interference flag cause Mike Tice was hysterically claiming it was a tipped ball…NOT! Still can’t figure out why Lovie didn’t call for a replay, they missed tons of calls, hope they get fined by the league for that inept performance!!!

So, next up The Eagles in Chicago… :? :!:

good news…packers are in last place in the nfc north :P

…Stillers looked good in the rain. Big Ben started with a interception and finished with a touchdown so things are moving in the right direction. Secondary is growing up big time, but the Dolphins passing attack wasn’t much of a test.

Tough luck with Rex. Can’t believe Urlacher didn’t play, saw he was a game time decision, figured that meant he was going to play being how tough as nails he is. Strong showing in that crazy dome though. Penn State goes there saturday to play the golden gophers. They never play well there. Plus the nittnay lions were on their third quaterback in the first quarter saturday in Wisconsin, troubles ahead.

Stillers got Cinni at home sunday.

          on with the maddness…

Good to hear some positive news from yesterday

We picked up qb Chad Hutchinson, used to play for Dallas. The Mighty Quinn will still be our starting qb as far as I know

Rumor out there we may trade for Mike McKenzie from the pack…

Well, looks like nobody got killed, but they didn’t even cover the nine point spread, not that i bet on something as important as football (only minor things like elections, however not this year), but they were getting 9 points which seemed alot at soilder field and all so i must ask, how close was the two point try at 19-9? What play did they run? I was watching the scores flash during the stillers and thought about how much money was riding on that play for someone, no reason just curiosity.

The stillers looked fine, except that rudi johnson fellow ran all over us like we were weakly warriors weary from a night of hard drinking. Seriously i haven’t scene a team run on pittsburgh that consistanly throughout a game in years. Big Ben in the man and i can’t believe i talked trash on him draft day. I just like giving the new kids a hard time i guess. I hope Tommy gunz likes walking around with a clipboard. Troy Polumalu finally made the big play he needed and ran over his old college roommate at the goalline to help the stillers cover the spread, there i go again with point spreads, i really don’t gamble but often marvel at how accuratly those bookie guys set the spread.

                Clevland at home next week.

stillers are iller than most at 3-1 but the seasons just begun…

That two point conversion play was the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen, didn’t stand a chance! Botched reverse, couple people in motion at the same time…ick  Not sure why they went for that, the touchdown was nice though, Quinn actually showed some talent on that play, didn’t show much thru the rest of the game

Thank god we have a bye next week, supposed to get Urlacher, Azumah, & Tucker back. Hopefully we can give the not so mighty quinn some reps, he was sooo rusty, our D played pretty pleasing in the red zone, the eagles only scored one td, rest were fg’s.

The good news, we didn’t suffer any season ending, catastrophic injuries during the game, first time this season :x

Packers still in last place :P

Thankfully The Mighty BEARS have the week off to recover some players & get ready to win some more games. Azumah, Urlacher, Tucker & Columbo are back next week

So this week it’s all about checking out some of our upcoming competition, Giants, Tampa ( 0-4, serves them right for hiring our old oc john shoop, they’ve definitely been shooped :P ) Washington, of course wishing losses on our nfc North teams that play today, can’t wait for the monday nite game…packers vs Tennessee :P Go Titans

Go Stillers, like your chances against Cleveland!

Chris Simms starting in Tampa today…YIKES

Jamal Lewis suspended for a couple games, fined over 700,000 bucks. Will serve four months in jail during the off season

Ricky Williams wants to play again, guess the thought of losing over 8 Million bucks got thru the fog of smoke clouding his brain. Apparently his deal with the substance program mandates a year suspension so thats just not gonna happen. Dan Hampton said the arbitrator in his appeal will be Cheech Marin

Best line of the morning football shows goes to Dan Hampton of Pro Football Weekly…’something smells in green bay & it’s not the limburger cheese, it’s that defence  :P

I love that show, three BEARS talking football, Dan Hampton, Tom Waddle & the voice of BEARS football Hub Arkush…it doesn’t get any better than that   :P

big day for Plaxico and the rest of the Stillers. Good to see the ball getting spread around. Got excited with 34 points early in the 3rd then they forgot to score anymore. A win is a win in this league. Things are looking good, too good in fact. Chad Scott got beat deep, but that’s about it; he’s on his last leg, sad, he was my fav a while ago. Big Ben’s interception wasn’t his fault and he keeps getting better. Not much of a pass rush, next week’s trip to Dallas provides a less slippery target in Vinny Testaverde, hopefully the heat will be on him.

sounds like a good week for da Bears, rest is the best guest.

4-1 is so much fun, go stillers go

We’re all alone in last place in the nfc north now, thanks to the most inept qb performance seen by BEARS fans in years. Quinn was far from mighty, his stats were horrendous, 7-3 & outs, only crossed midfield 3 times, no first downs in the first half, he overthrew & underthrew his receivers, held the ball too long in the pocket taking sacks that were completely his fault. He laid the ball out there for receivers, putting them at risk for wicked hits, god, it was the most painful experience I’ve had in years  He’s 6’6" but couldn’t clear the defensive line with his passes, he’s gotta go, fingers crossed hutchinson plays next week or we get Brad Johnson…something gotta change or…

They had two weeks to game plan, not to impressed with the results, offense scored only 3 points, our D got a td :P Jerry Azumah in his first game back, picked off a tipped ball, ran it back for a 70 yd score  Urlacher made some great tackles/hits in his first game back, Alex Brown had a breakout game on Defense, tipped balls, tackles…gotta love that.

                                Next up Tampa…

Stillers looked good, gotta love that rookie qb…

                                  October 18, 2004

                                  BY RICK TELANDER SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST

How not to be cruel? How about this? It’s possible Bears quarterback Jonathan Quinn isn’t pathetic in the red zone.

                                  Could be, you know.

Because on Sunday the Bears never made it to the fricking red zone.

                                  Sorry.

                                  How about this?

Quinn had the highest rushing average of anybody on either team in this what-did-I-pay-for-a-seat-license?, dear-God-must-the-season-go-on? 13-10 loss to the feeble Washington Redskins.

The Quinn-ster gained 32 yards on two carries. Yes, sir!

But he was sacked four times for 31 yards in losses.

And he passed for 34 net yards.

                                  For the whole freaking game!

                                  On a perfect weather day.

                                  That’s 8.5 yards per quarter.

However, in the first quarter Quinn amassed three yards passing, and in the third quarter he lit up the fall air for a yard.

So he was out-of-control, en fuego pass-happy in the second and fourth quarters.

                                  Not.

Basically, this game — which made the Bears 1-4 and dropped them down there with the molding detritus of the NFL, such as your weenie-Wannie Dolphins — consisted of the inept Washington team scoring a touchdown, two field goals and letting Quinn come apart like a sock puppet.

There is just no other way to describe it: Quinn might be the worst Bears starting quarterback in modern history.

His performance at Soldier Field was beyond Rusty Lisch-ious.

He is Cade McNown without peripheral vision.

He is Will Furrer without the left hand.

He is Henry Burris without the attitude.

He is Steve Bradley without the strike year.

He is Peter Tom Willis without the pedigree.

Why, he’s Moses Moreno without the charisma.

One hundred sixty yards in total offense, with tailback Thomas Jones gaining 97 yards himself?

                                  A 33.5 quarterback rating?

One-for-14 on third- and fourth-down conversions?

After two weeks of preparation and film study and conditioning and mental immersion in the craft of starting quarterback-dom?

Late in the fourth quarter, with the Bears still somehow holding a chance to win, Quinn dropped back to pass on third-and-eight from the Bears’ 47.

He looked, in his slow, mechanical retreat, like a statue on a wheeled cart. He held the ball, cocked and ready, like an oaken catapult with a loaf of bread in its pouch.

The entire sun-drenched stadium — indeed, the entire football world — saw Redskins cornerback Shawn Springs sprinting in from Quinn’s left side, and you could almost hear the slow-motion roar: "Watch … out … for … the … blitz … you … big … dummy!!!”

                                  Of course, Quinn didn’t.

If Quinn weren’t 6-6, 240, he would now be part of the sod near midfield. Or bug splatter on Springs’ grille.

When the Bears’ last embarrassing offensive effort had been made — sack, sack, completion, interception — Bears wide receiver David Terrell came to the bench and screamed, "Mother

!” as loud as he could.

Terrell is just the kind of high-strung, egomaniacal player who will detonate under the misguidance of a quarterback who doesn’t have a clue.

Terrell was frothing all afternoon on the sideline, even seemingly mouthing off to a coach.

He silently fumed as he dressed in his red Carmelo Anthony-model Oak Hill Academy stocking cap and yellow game jersey. He put on his black leather coat and hissed, "I had fun playing against my favorite team. Bye!” And he was gone.

That’s what one catch for 10 yards will do to a guy who fancies himself a gamebreaker. Terrell would be better off wearing a shortstop’s glove or jai alai cesta to handle Quinn.

Of course, that’s assuming Quinn ever starts for the Bears again.

Young molecular biologist Craig Krenzel and surfer dude Chad Hutchinson now move out of the clipboard world — no matter how unqualified they may be — and into the scary world of starting in the NFL.

"Nothing about being a starting quarterback is easy,” said the oddly unflapped Quinn after the game.

Did he feel overmatched? I wanted to know.

                                  "No,” Quinn answered.

I thought about asking him if he thought the earth was flat, but didn’t want to debate the answer.

Thus, the Bears have seen their rebuilding plans screech to a spark-flinging halt because of a long train of oversight.

Earth to Bears: Did it ever dawn on you that your starting quarterback, Rex Grossman, might blow out his knee and be lost for the year? Guys, this is the league that devours its own. Backups count. Or did you think it was the pro bowlers tour?

New offensive coordinator Terry Shea must have convinced Lovie Smith that Quinn, a Shea protege at Kansas City, was OK. Lovie must have convinced general manager Jerry Angelo. Angelo — with a contract extension through 2008 — convinced president Ted Phillips. Phillips convinced Virginia McCaskey. Virginia maybe whispered the news to George Halas.

                                  All wrong.

Do you feel for Quinn? I asked Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell, no field genius himself Sunday, with eight completions in 22 attempts for only 95 yards.

"Yes, I do,” he replied sincerely.

                                  So do I.

But who feels for the rest of us?
