September 7, 2007 at 5:19 pm #131718I haven’t listened to this band yet but they’re playing in Leeds next month I think so I’ll check them out. Can you recommend anything to start with?

Can you recommend anything to start with?Depends on your tastes. If you like heavy extended excursions in ambient sludge rock, go with the s/t album. If you prefer more melody with your ambient heaviness, try the Silver ep or Conqueror, which are essentially pop records with a sludgy undercurrent. Most of Jesu’s stuff is reeeeeeeaaaally slow, with very minimal — but powerful — drumming, and on the s/t there are sometimes over a dozen layers of guitar. Awesome stuff.
October 5, 2007 at 1:00 pm #131720Went to see Jesu last night. Awesome! And it was one of the rare shows these days that was as LOUD as it should have been. At times it was truly pulverizing, like the Godflesh shows of old. If you dig the band, definitely get out there and support them, especially since Broadrick rarely plays the States.
