April 20, 2003 at 5:56 pm #92710The other day I heard something about Evan Dando recording a song with Liv Tyler, but I can’t find it anywhere on internet

Anyone got some more info???Olaf
April 21, 2003 at 8:23 am #92711Hey Samwise!
I read about that too, just can’t remember, where – if I should find the mag (or wherever it was) I’ll post the more accurate info here. For now I only know that the duet with Liv Tyler will be on the B-side of a forthcoming single, and I think they re-recorded either "It looks Like You" or "Shots is Fired" (maybe even "Stop My Head – D’oh, the brain …), anyway, one song from the album, that much I’m pretty sure of.
Speaking of the Evan/Liv-connection: Anybody here seen "Heavy", the film where he plays her boyfriend? Or even better: heard the soundtrack, which – among some Thurston Moore stuff – includes some of the best songs Evan’s ever done, like a cover of Victoria Williams "Frying Pan" and another cover (don’t know who did the original, tho) of "Hot Coals"? Wow!April 21, 2003 at 9:43 am #92712Hi.
I like th the new album. my favorite tune is "stop my head". the whole record sounds very organic. I see there’s a upcoming european tour for evan dando. he’s dropping by in norway in may. acoustic show I assume?
April 21, 2003 at 10:31 am #92713Hey, Simmons!
Nope, as far as I know the whole URP-tour in May will be with a full band! He played some acoustic solo gigs in February (the two I know of were in Köln & Berlin, Germany). The last I heard was that he had "about ten people to choose from, which will eventually boil down to 4 or 5"…so: expect to be "rocked", Lemonhead-style that is…May 5, 2003 at 8:08 am #92714Pelt Sematary: thanks for the info … seems like I have to get a ticket and travel to oslo..
May 9, 2003 at 9:37 am #92715Saw Evan Dando play in Glasgow on Wednesday. He’s in excellent form! If you get the chance, I definitely recommend you go see one of his shows.
To be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I think the new album has some very strong songs, but it also has some weak sides. But, man, he gave one hell of a performance. Evan came up alone, and played five or six songs on his acoustic guitar. His voice deep and warm and sweet as ever. A voice — for those of you familar with the whisky — like Lagavulin, I’d say. Then the band joined him. Two great surprises here: Chris Brokaw, who supported J last fall, on guitar; George Berz on drums! (Josh Lattanzi plays bass.) They played a fine, rocking mix of old Lemonheads songs and songs from Baby I’m Bored. It seemed like George had not yet had much time to practice, and he slipped up once or twice, but Chris and Evan helped him through the rough spots, and I think he did great. After the band had left the stage, Evan came back alone with his electric guitar and just wouldn’t stop playing songs. Some of his own older work, but also two Gram Parsons’s covers. One of those was "A Song for You", and it blew us all away. Some of the most beautiful heartache you’ll ever hear.
(George, if you read this — want to tell us a little bit about the tour? How do you like playing with Evan so far?)
May 9, 2003 at 4:44 pm #92716oh.. Jasper- what a show. what a great time it must have been. evan dando playing acoustic in front of you.. and seeing george berz on drums totally unexpected must have been an astonishing moment.
May 9, 2003 at 4:52 pm #92717George Berz!

… I wasn’t sure, yet, but now I ordered my ticket (Hamburg, May 19th) right away

Thanks for the great review, Jasper
May 12, 2003 at 8:20 am #92718Me too!!! 30th of May in Barcelona
PS. He also played "A song for you" in Amsterdam last year didn´t he?
May 12, 2003 at 11:14 am #92719Yes, he also played that one in Amsterdam. (Needless to say, that was a great version, too.) Though this time, he went on to play "How much I’ve lied," another song from Gram Parson’s first solo album.
May 15, 2003 at 5:03 am #92720going tonight and tomorrow – shepherds bush empire. can’t wait.
May 15, 2003 at 5:34 am #92721Enjoy the show Javro!
I saw him couple of months ago at Mono in Oslo, was a great solo gig!
Hopefully the show will soften some of the blow of West Hams relegation!May 15, 2003 at 9:46 am #92722cheers for remembering that Robert! Am so fucked off you wouldn’t believe. will now watch until the premiership vultures circle around and steal our best players.
anyway, bring on Watford, Crewe, Cardiff and the Millwall. please god let us go straight back up.
May 16, 2003 at 3:45 am #92723well fuck fuck fuckity fuck. what an amazing show. he was in perfect voice, started off with 6 or so just him and his geetar, and then was joined by George (amazing drumming fella, can’t believe someone was critical of him earlier in this post, coz he was real tight last night) and Chris Brokaw, excellent on lead too. wanted to hang around to thank them, but the empire ain’t really that type of club.
Excellent, can’t wait for tonight, same time, same venue.
