‘back to your heart’ question
can someone post the lyrics to ‘back to your heart’ from beyond……
and also, that’s actually my favorite song on the album and i know it’s a lou song….i’m familiar w/ Dino, have all their cd’s and love ’em…..but i have never followed Lou’s other acts…
does he play any other music w/ other bands that sounds like ‘back to your heart’ ?
i mean i love all of ‘beyond’ but that song in particular really gets me…….i know ‘folk implosiion’ is his band…..do they sound like ‘back to your heart’
anyway if someone could also post the lyrics that’d be awesome…..Dino rules!!!

March 5, 2008 at 2:46 pm #133102he doesn’t really do much like dino unless hes in dino. not to say his other stuff is great. i love his solo/sebadoh/folk implosion/sentridoh/whatever else he feels like doing. they all have their own unique sound. which is all righteous.
March 5, 2008 at 5:46 pm #133103yeah but that song isn’t really typical Dino…..at least not to my ears…..
March 5, 2008 at 7:41 pm #133104i know what your sayin’, its a killer tune. if your into acoustical stuff i would recommend getting emoh, or if your into more lo fi and nuts, try out seBADoh.
March 5, 2008 at 8:05 pm #133105You should check out the New Folk Implosion CD called, "The New Folk Implosion"
Here’s my take on the lyrics.
Breathe your air
Cut my teeth
On the bones of a hypocrite that look like me
Ashes stain, window sill
The punk rock boy meets a dyed black girl
Free our families
Lose our minds
Think about the valley from time to time
They’re sweet things, I’ve ever been
Happy that we left but I would leave again for you
Back to your heart
Back to your heart
Back to your heart
You are the only one
Sharing song, so I’ll wait for you
To breathe your air, tend to me
Tell me what you want, and I will try to be
Everywhere, all the time
Think about the future, let the past unwind
You, are my shining sun
The summer comes and I leave again for you
Back to your heart
Back to your heart

March 5, 2008 at 8:39 pm #133107I don’t really know what that last part is, but I think he’s saying "They’re sweet things"
I think he’s singing about how he didn’t really want to move out West at first, but he did it for her, because he loves her. And he would do anything, anything, anything to please her and to be with her. But sometimes he has to leave, far away from her, only to come back to her heart.
March 6, 2008 at 2:55 pm #133108Yeah this song defineatly has a Barlow fingerprint.Could have been a Sebadoh song although it would sound different.

June 16, 2008 at 8:04 pm #133110i can’t express enough the feelings that this song brings up inside of me……sometimes when i’m at my lowest i put it on and sing it through tears, other times i’m bellowing it in happiness….
it’s the finest song Lou Barlow’s ever written and hands down my favorite song on ‘beyond’…..even if it isn’t textbook dinosaur………..one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time easily………
on a completely separate note, ‘gold soundz’ by pavement is also an amazing tune……
June 22, 2008 at 3:10 am #133111I like it. The song is slower and less catchy than any Dinosaur songs, though, but it’s a good groove for the sequence. It doesn’t really have a busting chorus or any lyrics that may outright hook, but I think I am right in saying there’s some clever instrument playing. It’s almost as if this song was written statement wise rather than the pure fun of a jam. That’s what I love about Dino songs. They are precise in many ways, even dimming it down during a song at times to reexamine our own. I am surprised Lou has went back so hard he’s using the 80’s fad back to you more of it as his corn. haha..Or maybe he’s just saying, Back To Your Heart.
