thanks. that would be about 22.50 (before shipping) canadian which is about what you pay for an catalog album here. so that’s reasonable. find out how much shipping to Canada would be.
August 1, 2003 at 6:41 pm #94581You can also get it through Germany’s Glitterhouse mailorder, release date August 11th, price 14.75 euros (16.58 US$, 10.30 GB pounds, 23.30 Canadian $, at the rates of August 1)
August 2, 2003 at 12:16 pm #94582Gotta hate amazon.ca, definitely going thru European shops for the better price
Usually shipping is cheaper from Europe than thru the US, at least thats been my experience so far
August 2, 2003 at 12:48 pm #94583I usually like amazon.ca especially with the free shipping on orders over 39 bucks. their prices are better than amazon.com and they only charge gst
August 10, 2003 at 4:08 pm #94584wow, my preordered copy of the J BBC sessions has just been sent out!

:aliensmile:August 18, 2003 at 4:01 pm #94586The following is a press release I recieved from Strange Fruit. Nothing new here but I thought someone may want to read it anyway. Judging by this i assume the official name of the disc is "The John Peel Sessions."

released: 11/8/03Strange Fruit is pleased to announce the release of J Mascis’ John Peel Sessions on 11th August 2003.
Dinosaur Jr were one of the defining bands of the Twentieth Century’s final decade and a half. As their enigmatic frontman and leader, J Mascis made a name for himself as one of the godfathers of grunge (Nirvana supported Dinosaur Jr on their ‘Green Mind’ tour in 1991). The full impact of this is still being realised today with every band influenced by one of the most important guitar genres to emerge from rock’n’roll.
Dinosaur Jr split in 1998 and this album contains solo material that J recorded for the BBC between 2000 and 2002, including his sessions for John Peel and a bonus track for BBC 6 Music. Partly acoustic, some of the material sees J stripped bare (just guitar and voice), performing songs from his solo albums as well as Dinosaur Jr favourites like ‘Freakscene’.
The non-acoustic material sees J joined by Minutemen Mike Watt on bass and George Berz on drums, and is mixed by My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields. The album opens with a stirring medley of covers comprising songs by The Ruts and Pavement.
The full tracklisting is as follows:
1. EVERYTHING FLOWS / RANGE LIFE / IN A RUT (MEDLEY)
2. SAME DAY
3. AMMARING
4. WAISTIN’
5. I’M NOT FINE
6. I FEEL LIKE GOING HOME
7. ALONE
8. EVERYBODY LETS ME DOWN
9. FREAKSCENE
10. IF THAT’S HOW IT’S GOTTA BE (bonus track – BBC 6 Music)August 18, 2003 at 4:15 pm #94587thanks for the press realease

August 25, 2003 at 1:46 pm #94590Well, picked it up today, kind of belated birthday present I gave myself and a great way to start my holiday!

Question: does anyone know what all that stuff at the end of the Everything Flows medley is? Seems some kind of radio (sports?) commentary to me…..

Whole album sounds GREAT by the way…..
August 25, 2003 at 5:20 pm #94591The "stuff" at the end of Everything flows medley is actually a ranting Buddy Rich yelling at his band. Really funny stuff. I heard the "whole" tape and it’s definitely worth checkin’ out.

You guys are gonna be back in New York on the bread line so fast you won’t even know that you were on this fuckin’ band. How dare you play a fuckin’ set like that. Since when did the fuckin’ trumpet players become the leader of this fuckin’ band and decide how long they’re gonna hold a chord? What the fuck do you think your doin’? You think you’re playin’ with some kid up there? I expect one-hundred-and-ten percent fucking perfection every fuckin’ tune, you got that? If you can’t do it, get off my fuckin’ band to-NIGHT! You had a day off yesterday and you come back like this and you suck! What the fuck kind of music do you think you’re playing here anyhow? And who do you think you’re playing for? You think I’ll tolerate that shit? You’re worse than any fuckin’ high school band I ever heard. You come in wrong because you leave one fuckin’ beat out, you can’t find one!? I don’t know what kind of drummers you think you’re playin’ with, but you’ll play with me or you’ll get out! And I mean NOW! I don’t need this shit. I have a home in Palm Springs and I can go sit on my ass the rest of my life and not worry about a fuckin’ thing…and don’t have to meet your fuckin’ payroll, and pay you for playin’ like a fuckin’ high school dropout! How dare you do that! ASSHOLES!!from bridgeboymusic.com
August 27, 2003 at 1:44 am #94593I hope mine is in the mail today…
September 10, 2003 at 1:52 pm #94594I picked a copy of it up in Camden the other day. I’d forgotten about it until then, and it made my day (on top of getting dreadlocks). Mike Watt’s backing vocals are great, a lot better than when I saw them live. Good stuff.
