I really hope that young people aren’t afraid of using, or demanding the use of a condom, because it’s looked upon as unsexy. And even if it’s horse urine(even though I’m highly sceptical towards this until proof is presented,) it’s a far better option than an unwanted pregnancy/abortion.
Contraception rocks ! easy as that.

Saying that the pope & the catholic church have no actual power is naive at best in my opinion.

As for the pope, I think he was the best they could come up with right now. They didn’t want to get locked into a new long lasting papacy, that’s why the chose such an "old" man.

Hey Robert, Thanks, I think you went kind of easy on me. I have some information that I want to post about the pill and estrogen and progesterone but I am running short of time this evening. I still think MTV and TimeWarner have more of an influence on the world and esp. young people, much more so than the Church.

I didn’t say they didn’t have power, just I mean come on, Only a small part of the world is listening to what the Catholic church is saying and following the plan.

Young people, who are not married and are having sex should use contraception, I mean even on this point I would fall into the "cafeteria Catholic" catagory.

I hope young people use condoms if they feel the need to. I just think condoms suck but hey thats just my opinion.

If you are in a state that has a "Happy China Massage parlor" and you decide to go in for a massage with a happy ending, as my husband calls it, than please do use a condom.

MTV might have more influence on young people, at least in the "western world." But, catholicism(sp?) is "growing" with a quick rate in other, non industrialized parts of the world, and in those parts(africa etc,) I think it has a big influence on people. And for those people to avoid using condoms because it is viewed upon as a sin, is nothing short of a disaster due to the rapid spreading of HIV etc.

Actually Catholicism is declining in South America and being replaced by evangelical protestants, in Africa Catholicism is on the rise, but you must remember most Africans are not using birth control, not because the Church is telling them not to, in reality it is because of lack of resources, poverty, etc. ( because the Church says don’t F*@k unless you are married, and if you are married don’t do that with anyone else) of course that kind of F*@king is going on so we can’t say that it is the church that is telling them not to use condoms and they are listening because the church is telling them not to screw outside of marriage and very few are listening to that.

Sorry, my little lack of birth control just did pee-pee inside of Dad’s camera bag (that sucks) he is sitting on my lap without a diaper (airing out a bit ) and Dad’s bag was under the computer desk, wide open, so in it went.

            Got to go.

well I agree with the church’s stance even though personally I don’t, its the church and they’re telling people not to F@ck outside marriage, which of course is the moral thing to do, If people arent going to listen to that they can easily not listen to the condom thing, just like here in the states. Its no travesty at all, the travesty is that we can’t get more aid over to Africa as fast as we can, instead we just bomb the hell out of IRAQ and spend trillions

WHO did massive campaigning for condoms, classes, infomercials on the radio and handed out condoms in Africa, teaching africans how it was the best contraceptive when it comes to protecting them from HIV. What does the vatican do? They say that HIV can "swim" through tiny holes in the condoms, and thus they’re not protecting against HIV. That is a disaster, and in my eyes there’s no way to justify that.

Let’s give the new dude a chance before we make snap judgments about him. Making strong statements when you’re the leader is a lot harder than when you’re just one of the followers. I’m sure he’ll think a lot harder before he spouts off now, or pay the consequences.

I do agree that JPII is one tough act to follow though.
