Minor Threat had two seven inches, which were then packaged as a 12"and then they released Out of Step. I realise that Out of Step could be classed as an EP though it has got about 8 tracks on and is over 25 mins long…The Punchline by Minutemen is shorter than this and is classed as their 1st LP mit even runs at 45 RPM. I like to think of Out of Step as an LP so thats why it’s a great debut LP in my eyes.
We’ve got band practice tonight I might teach my friends Betray.
July 25, 2001 at 1:41 pm #65932REM’s Murmur is an awesome debut album. To bad they don’t write tunes like Laughing or Sitting Still no more.
July 25, 2001 at 1:49 pm #65933maxini – I agree. Murmur is such a classic.

July 25, 2001 at 4:21 pm #65935The ones that instantly jump across my mind
Public Enemy: Yo Bum Rush The Show
Pavement: Slanted And Enchanted
Sex Pistols: Nevermind The Bollocks, Here’s…
Hellacopters: Supershitty To The Max
Turbonegro: Ass Cobra
Beck: Mellow Gold
Silver Jews: Starlite Walker
Modest Mouse: This Is A Long Drive For…
Grandmaster Flash: The Message
RATM: Self titled
Weezer: Self titledJuly 25, 2001 at 4:28 pm #65936Silver Jews-Starlite Walker,great album.
"Trains across the sea"
"Advice to the graduate"
"New Orleans"-love that lyric"there`s a house in new orleans, not the one you heard about I`m talking about another house."
lots of cool tunes on that.
Hey Jaron,DC Berman from the SJ is from Charlottesville,Virginia.I forgot to mention another:
Versus-The Stars Are InsaneI was listening to them last night and remembered that debut.

</STRONG><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>We don’t call it "Charlottesville" around here. We call it "Richmond’s armpit," and that’s when we’re in a good mood.
All joking aside, I’m not down with Charlottesville. It makes me mad.
July 25, 2001 at 9:30 pm #65938Led Zeppelin – I I haven’t played it in a while, but I recall every song being great.
Guns n Roses- Appetite For Destruction
Reminds me of 7th grade, but it was and still is a great rock album.
Violent Femmes- That cd always sounds great.
Radiohead- Pablo Honey- I know it isn’t as good as The Bends or OK Computer, but I’ve always thought that this cd was completely underrated.
Catherine Wheel- I can’t remember the name of the disc, but I still throw it in the cd player evry once and a while.
p.s. Antipop
I don’t want to sound like an ass, I just thought that if you like Pantera, you might want to know a little interesting info. Pantera actually had like 3 albums out before Cowboys From Hell, but they were cock rock albums, and the group had them pulled off the shelves because they were didn’t want them to tarnish thier reputation. The group supposedly gets real pissed when critics mention them. Take care, TomJuly 25, 2001 at 10:20 pm #65939So your the one who prevented my Screen Name from being Tom. Poo on you, Tom is MY name. I think Nirvana’s Bleach was really great, and the Foo Fighter’s first album.
July 26, 2001 at 2:12 am #65940Hey Salamiguy,
You answered my question about Eric’s Trip before I even asked it…yikes. They are playing in my neighborhood in the near future, will definitely check them out. Glad they reformed, should be cool.

July 26, 2001 at 2:51 am #65941Yeah Eric`s Trip are great, best band in Canada next to Godspeed YBE.they`re very loud so watch out!Lead singer/guitarist Rick is a huge MC5 fan,he even did a tribute a few years ago called HC5;Drummer Mark is a big Ramones fan. They also love Sebadoh and of course Mr. Mascis.Alot of their tunes are classic Dinosaur sounding stuff, they also have a great alien abduction tune called"Spaceship Opening",which is a loud/fast punk tune.
Eggwater-teach em "Betray",great tune;is it just me or does Homer Simpson`s voice kind of sounds like Ian Mackaye?July 26, 2001 at 2:57 am #65942Hey Salamiguy,
I love it loud, nothing better than feeling the sound almost blow you over with your ears working at max…too cool
You can definitely hear the influences you mentioned with Eric’s Trip, looking forward to the show. It’s at this great old building that has an amazing selection of beverages, also has weird monsters painted all over the place…

July 26, 2001 at 7:05 am #65943I reckon if we don´t view Come on Pilgrim as a proper album, than Surfer Rosa has to be the best debut of all time.
Have to agree with that don´t you?
Come on let´s find some common ground.
Yes and Salamiguy, I want to hear the story about Albini and the Chicken. It´s just really hard to keep track with your postings. Can´t remember, might as I try, where you originally mentioned it.
gruss
dJuly 26, 2001 at 8:10 am #65944I missed out Squirrel Bait – Squirrel Bait, the best debut by a bunch of school kids ever…out Huskerin’ the Huskers…and they nearly all went on to greater things – David Grubbs (Bastro, Gastr Del Sol), Brian McMahon, Britt Walford (Slint, King Kong, The For Carnation).
July 26, 2001 at 11:07 am #65945Hey dimpfelmoser:
The Albinni chicken story I`ll post at salami`s cool music picks.
Come On Pilgrim has 8 songs so I guess it`s close enough to an album, should have mentioned it.
Eggwater-Was the drummer on SB`s first record Walford or Ben Daughtrey?
I have some trivia about Walford;he played on the Breeders first album,Pod under the name Shannon Doughton.
Daughtrey played for a while with the Lemonheads.
Some guy at a music store said SB`s original drummer was Alexis Fleisig of Girls Against Boys,I don`t believe him,do you know anything about this?Fleisig is from DC I think, so it seems unlikely he was in SB. -
