April 12, 2002 at 7:46 pm #68846I always thought that Chris Cornell from Soundgarden could scream with the best of them.
Nick Cave could scream pretty good to, mainly when he was with the Birthday Party.
I don’t know his name, but the singer from At The Drive In screams pretty good too.
I agree with Kweezy, those 80’s heavy metal singers like Halford & Dickinson are in a class of their own.April 13, 2002 at 2:08 am #68847Thanx for the concurrence Chris and sorry Bean, I didn’t know the topic was emotional screamers. Thanx for clearing that up for me. In that case, I nominate my wife as the greatest of all time. That list was not meant to represent my favorite vocalists or my picks for best singer. I was just listing vocalists I think scream really well. I gotta agree with the references to Plant & Daltrey- major influences on the whole evolution of the rock’n’roll scream. And for the females, I forgot to mention Janis Joplin (I wouldn’t want to be percieved as some type of chauvinist). She had both emotion & power.
April 13, 2002 at 2:12 am #68848Dude, Chris Cornell…..I thought he was going to explode a few times….wow!
I forgot……..JOEY RAMONE!!!!!!!!
Randy Jane
