I had never even heard of that place anyway… maybe they can play Toads on their tour?? :)

BAR has been around for about 15 years now, a fairly big, multi-room club that’s usually given over to dancing, but more recently has been hosting live bands, often for free. High On Fire played there last year for free, which must’ve been great. The place also used to brew their own beer and at one point added a brick-oven pizza joint onto it. I left New Haven years ago, though, so I don’t currently know what it’s like. I do remember them having asshole bouncers, though.

see…all is forgiven. i simple explanation was all that was needed. thanks for the response guys….hope to see you in CT soon

Bar is a very cool place. yes, it still brews its own beer and has some of the best pizza in new haven. their on going free sunday night rock shows always bring in cool acts. ive caught dead meadow there a few times, high on fire, kinski with kawabato from acid mothers, and all for free.

No Stephens, just Peterson and Paul Whaley, who were, really, the heart of the band, since they had such a revolving door of guitarists from ’69-on. Blue Cheer without Whaley would be no good, but with him and Peterson laying down the rhythm, it’s sure to kick ass.

i just got back from the new haven show, BLUE CHEER FUCKIN ROCKED THE HOUSE!!!

oh man, i was goin in hopin theyd be decent….they fucking blew me away. they played all old songs, just the first 2 albums. whaley is still a monster behind the drums, and peterson was amazing, he still sounds exactly the same…songs i remember are pretty much the whole Vincebus Eruptum album, and the hunter and just a little bit

highlight was parchment farm into out of focus

dear god….peterson still looks like a bad ass too

I only caught about the last 20 mins or so at CBGB, as they went on earlier than we expected, but it was cool as shit. I didn’t care much for the guitaritst — too much very very standard blues-rock playing — but the rhythm section was killer. Peterson plays kind of like Jah Wobble, all heavy bottom-end and hypnotic repetition. And he looks OLD. He said they’d be back in October, so I’ll make sure and get there early enough next time….

man, its the day after, and im still stunned by how awesome blue cheer were

i wish someone would tape one of these upcoming shows, id love to have it on video

yes, the guitar player was no stephens or holden, but i think he did a great job, and he added a lot of his own noise and feedback craziness to a lot of songs…..oh yeah, he had a Melvins shirt on to…….AWESOME!
