Alright, Jerry Cantrell’s (AIC) show at the 9:30 club in DC was successfully taped by me. But…I can’t seem to get the tape onto my comp to get it to cd. I have the old school Windat program and it says you can record with a line input from a tape player, which I tried and it didn’t work. So, the other computer did it but I have a problem: how do I get it onto the computer with the cd burner? Do I need a zip drive or something like that? Is there a better way of getting tape to cd that I don’t know about? Help.
July 25, 2001 at 9:14 pm #82867I saw something like this about 2 weeks ago on The Screen Savers. You go to their archives and get step by step instructions. In short, there’s a couple of programs that work alot better then winDAT. Go to that site and check it out.
July 25, 2001 at 9:58 pm #82868I don`t have a cd burner so I record to tape, buy a y adapter at a electronics store and hook it into the headphone jack.
July 25, 2001 at 10:16 pm #82869That’s what I did. It might be the comp input that isnt working.

You might want to click on the microphone in the lower right hand corner of your window’s task bar and make sure line-in is turned all the way up and not muted. Mine was the first time I checked.
By the way, I noticed you were from Northern Virginia. Where exactly? I’m from Richmond.

August 2, 2001 at 8:15 am #82871hey there,
recorded the Radiohead concert yesterday that I had taped the day before. I connected my tape deck via chinch/klinke cable to my ‘puter’s sound card’s line in port, chose line in as recording source and grabbed it with Cool Edit which is available for free. that’s the way I’m doin it for years and never had any problems.

Vienna, Virginia which is in Fairfax County. It sucks.August 2, 2001 at 1:00 pm #82873Your from Vienna,Va!,ever hear of a band called the Hurricane Lamps?they`re an indie band from Vienna,VA.I heard a couple of songs by them, pretty good;I was wondering where Vienna,VA was!Don`t know if their in your taste of music but I`d thought I`d mention them.
August 2, 2001 at 3:07 pm #82874The Hurricane Lamps I first heard on the radio, they said on the radio they`re from Vienna,VA;now I just checked for an mp3 of them at Listen.com;type in their name and it will list 1 mp3 by them, click on that and that will take you to Inkblotmagazine `s site;they show the Hurricane lamps album cover there and list the label`s address as in Vienna,Va,but say the band is ‘Outta DC’ so I don`t know now if they `re from there or not,the label is though-Sonic Boomarang records.
They compare them to Sebadoh,Archers Of Loaf and Superchunk;check out the mp3 and see what you think.August 2, 2001 at 3:29 pm #82875
quote:
Originally posted by salamiguy:

Tom N, I don’t know much about the N. VA scene but if you come about an half hour south to Charlottesville and Richmond, we’ve got an interesting metal scene going with bands like Optic. Also, Catch-22 outta Charlottesville is sweet. Richmond has alot of neat bands starting up (although quite a few of the new ones are DMB knockoffs) but there is some good stuff going down in our area. I’ll drop you a line next time I see something cool going down.
August 2, 2001 at 3:43 pm #82876I know we`re going off topic with this;Jaron, have you ever heard a Richmond band called The Exploder? They do emo rock, really screaming stuff.I`ll see if I can find a mp3 by them.
August 2, 2001 at 6:29 pm #82877Glad to here that there’s a scene down there ELJ. Yeah, the label ‘outa dc’ is 2 miles from my house on the main street of my town. I didn’t know that. I’m gonna go check it out sometime…And dammit, it’s my topic and I’ll do with it what I please, I grew tired of bootleging troubles.
