Bridges

I know it has been posted before, but I also need a replacement bridge for my Jazzmaster.
Can anybody give me some advice ?

I’m also thinking about replacing my pick-ups for new ones (to get that 60′ sound). Any advice on that ?

I don’t have a Jazzmaster myself, but I have it on a fairly reliable source that the Gibson Tune-o-Matic bridge fits perfectly and works well… I hear you can find them at just about any guitar store for not a whole lot of money…

I’ve put a Schaller Roller Bridge in my Jaguar, (has the same bridge/term system as a Jazzmaster), which seems to be working really well. I had it done by a proper repairer cos the bridge isn’t a straight swop for the Jazz/Jag type one. Some people also recommend trying a Mustang bridge as it is an exact fit (no adjustment needed). Unfortunately its a matter of experimenting, maybe try the mustang one first as you could swop that over yourself.

I have a japenese jazzmaster and I have seymour duncan vintage pickups so it sounds just like a 60’s guitar. I haven’t heard it with the original pickups so I can’t say how much diffrence they make. I’m not really good enough of a guitarist to play a jazzmaster, it does not forgive sloppiness.

The jazzmaster has an incredible clean sound and sounds great with reverb but I can’t get a good distortion sound from it. It may just be my amp or my pedals (MXR distortion+, Sovtek Big Muff pi). I should try it on my friends marshal.
J uses a distortion on open chords a lot and I’m into that but it sounds too muddy on my JazzM but great on my Strat.

I’ve got a Japanese Jazzmaster (with standard pick-ups). I also have a big muff pi (black one with yellow print, Sovtek I believe). I think, the big muff sounds best on a transistor amp. I own a Fender deluxe 112+ amp (transistor), and an old 70′ Carlsbro amp (tube). The sound I get out of the Fender amp with the big muff is really loud and crunchy, better than out of the Carlsbro.

My advice: Try a good transistor amp…

My jap jazzmaster has seymor duncan vintage pickups. My big muff is the one right before yours the one with the huge Green case (literally a big muff). Actually I changed my mind because I was playing it the other day thru my fender princeton chorus and it sounded great. however my other rig is a Traynor Custom Reverb, which would be great but my cabinet is a Peavy 15 inch speaker.
