May 22, 2006 at 4:04 am #117676Yeah, I’ll be there with my partner, can’t wait. It’s in the Academy 2 now due to not enough tickets sold.
Roll on 7pm!May 22, 2006 at 9:43 am #117677Nice one man, thanks for the info, v. useful to know!
I guess that’s bad because it’ll mean less $$$ for Lou to spend on nappies and for J to spend on cuddly toys but maybe better for the audience…..May 23, 2006 at 7:49 am #117678What a show. WHAT A SHOW! Absolutely amazing. Better even than the London Forum gig last year! Better than the Hummingbird show in 93 off the back of Where You Been. 13 years on and they’re better than ever (though I have huge amounts of time for the great Mike Johnson).
I think the size of the room helped mind, a great atmosphere. My brother saw them in Glasgow last week and said there wasn’t really a mosh going on so I was a little bit concerned that the same would be the case last night. I shouldn’t have worried though. Everyone was up for it, there was a great pit – young and old giving it their all. Just incredible.
Don’t want to piss on anyone’s fire but here’s the setlist (as taped to the stage, my friend has it on his wall now!):
Gargoyle
Bulbs of Passion
Kracked
The Wagon
Tarpit
The Lung
Little Fury Things
The Post
Forget the Swan
Budge
Lose
Raisans
Sludgefeast
Just Like Heaven
Freakscene

May 24, 2006 at 2:54 pm #117680Great show, altho i felt slightly detached cos i was standing to the side of the stage from that nook just outside the main room. Sound was awesome tho…
Scott i’d disagree with you about it being better than the hummingbird show in ’93 tho: That was my first ‘real’ gig i went to as i was still in school (16) and dino were my favorite band big time back then, and i was really creaming it at that show. Since then i’ve seen em probably 8 times including last years forum show so maybe a little of the shine has worn off now. Only a little tho, hearing tarpit always raises a massive smile for me!!!
May 26, 2006 at 10:48 am #117681Dave, that was my first rock show too (note to self: don’t mention the U2 show…or the Simple Minds one. Shit! Just did!). Same age I reckon. They were amazing that night tis true. Maybe it was the mix of Southern Comfort and cannabis which gave Monday’s show the edge, as compared to the 2 pints of cider I drank and puked on all those years ago!
May 26, 2006 at 5:12 pm #117682yeah awesome show, i remember wishing the support acts off the stage as i could’nt wait for dino and they didn’t dissapoint. that was the only show i got to see at the hummingbird before it closed down. i watched from on the balcony and it was proper loud and the place was heaving, i remember everyone going off when they played start chopin.
would love to know if anyone ever recorded that particular show, would be great to hear
May 27, 2006 at 4:34 am #117683If only!!!!!
I was down the front, had to be. I remeber Bettie Serviet being terrible. Can’t remember who the other support was now.
I’m embarassed now to say I saw another show at the hummingbird before it closed down: The Shamen. I know I know, I was young, I didn’t know any better!
