Great review and comments.
Concert was superb (save for minor comment at the end of this post) – highlight was Thumb (Suzanne’s flute and all) and the elongated Alone (favourite song just got better !). I dragged a colleague from work with me, saying it was an "acoustic solo" gig by a bona fide guitar God. J’s fan club now has one new member, although even I was taken aback by the thrash guitar and flute combo – FANTASTIC.
The Wounded knees were also a revelation – highly recommend seeing them live to anyone. Expect to hear more about Jimi & Suzanne as they were the best supporting act at a J gig I’ve been to.
Bush Hall was a good venue (Sold Out – 400 people), comfortable, but very, very humid (yes I know it helps bar sales any conspiracy theorists out there). Not sure what it was like when REM played, but would have been good if you like saunas
During the concert I pondered as to what it must feel like to play virtually the same set day in day out on tour. With the back catalogue available I would have liked J to stretch himself a bit more, as his acoustic concerts haven’t moved on since the "green shirt" Camden gig. Ultimately who the hell am I to criticise as the songs sound so good. However, knock me down, but would anyone else like to hear a few different numbers played ?
