I’ve been listening to this song (by Lush) over and over lately. Somehow the lyrics just. . . work. . .feels like she’s singing to me.
Hypocrite (2:53)
(Miki Berenyi)A silly girl I run around and never know my reasons
And though you’re laughing with me
I know what you say about me I can’t explain,
It’s not your business anyway
So don’t say you understand
And don’t pretend you’re on my sideAnd I remember when you hated her for sleeping next to him
I see your smiling face but I know you’ve done worse to me
You hypocrite, don’t talk to me ’cause you’re not fit to know me
So don’t pretend that you could’ve ever been a friend
And still I’m sure you think it’s ok
What you’ve done to me ’cause I’m so bad to him
Don’t even try to hide behind that stupid lie
I know your kind and I know where your loyalties lieThe silly girls we run around and never know our reasons
And though I understand I guess I’ll say that you betrayed me
I’m a hypocrite, I dish it out but I can’t take it
I know you think it’s wrongAnd maybe you’re right but this is my song
And still I’m sure you think it’s ok
What she did to me ’cause I’m so bad to him
Don’t even try to hide behind that stupid smile
I know our kind and I know where our loyalties liePost good lyrics here, please.

December 23, 2002 at 5:22 pm #84648I’m very stuck on Kid A–for many reasons… Just for hearing the opening song: "I woke up sucking on a lemon." Just for that.
December 23, 2002 at 6:00 pm #84649Lump was limp and lonely
and needed a show.
Lump slipped on her emotions
and tumbled into love.
She spent her twenties
between the sheets.
And life limped along
in subsonic speed.December 23, 2002 at 6:13 pm #84650More cool Radiohead:
Optimistic
Flies are buzzing round my head
Vultures circling the dead
Picking up every last crumb
The big fish eat the little ones
The big fish eat the little ones
Not my problem, give me someYou can try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enough
If you try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enoughThis one’s optimistic
This one went to market
This one just came out of the swamp
This one dropped a payload
Fodder for the animals
Living on animal farmIf you try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enough
If you try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enoughI’d really like to help you, man
I’d really like to help you, man
Nervous messed up marionettes
Floating around on a prison shipIf you try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enough
If you can try the best you can
If you try the best you can
Dinosaurs roaming the Earth
Dinosaurs roaming the Earth
Dinosaurs roaming the EarthDecember 23, 2002 at 6:24 pm #84651And these are possbly the lyrics to my favorite Cocteau twins song:
Carolyn’s Fingers
When he said ‘You are full of love’
She fell down into this dirty mess
Some people silly like him tell us
‘It’s wrong to make fun of me’
Even they don’t give any more
Try, try to fall
She fell down into a dirty mess
Even then they don’t give
Try, try to fall
She fell down and he’s so sick of it all
And of me
This part not out of her saw fit to drop
Whispers might prove it all
You’re just closer to me when you fall, but you broke
This would prove it all
You just closer to me, but you broke
This would prove it all
Sleep now
You susur, try to talk
Reach out for that hand
Reach out for that hand
And even they don’t give any more
Try, try to fall
Even then they don’t give
Try, try to fall
You just closer to me at the fall
But you don’t want
You’re just closer to me
But you don’t want, want my handMan, It’s even weirder when you see it written out.
January 13, 2003 at 1:38 pm #84652This song by Freakwater always gives me chills and makes me sad
;I think Janet wrote it about her divorce from Rick Rizzo, her bandmate in Eleventh Dream Day:Just Like You by Freakwater
Just look at what you`ve done
don`t try and think of taking it away
play it through your head
until you think you`re taught
it`ll still be there
this sleepless heart
to answer to like I do
just like I doI won`t let you escape
by takin you out
and letting someone take your place
you`ll have to face it any day
balls roll,we won`t keep it away
now you know what it takes
to be fueled by hateAnd I was told a rule of gold
but it was undone by you
but I know better now
the rule that is true
to forgive is to be a foolFrom the second fate was sealed
like a deadbolt lock on a life on a wheel
the simple things that you would do
would drive it home on a spinning wheel
that rolls you back til you feel
just like I dojust like a light down in a storm
the light goes out for some but for others
a fire is bornI pray someone will find me first
deliver me from this fatal curse
now any of you so that I can breathe
at the hardness swallowing me
all I can`t seem to do
is be just like youJanuary 24, 2003 at 3:45 pm #84653The Pogues
Sunnyside of the StreetSeen the carnival at Rome
Had the women I had the booze
All I can remember now
Is little kids without no shoes
So I saw that train
And I got on it
With a heartful of hate
And a lust for vomit
Now I’m walking on the sunnyside of the streetStepped over bodies in Bombay
Tried to make it to the U.S.A.
Ended up in Nepal
Up on the roof with nothing at all
And I knew that day
I was going to stay
Right where I am, on the sunnyside of the streetBeen in a palace, been in a jail
I just don’t want to be reborn a snail
Just want to spend eternity
Right where I am, on the sunnyside of the streetAs my mother wept it was then I swore
To take my life as I would a whore
I know I’m better than before
I will not be reconstructed
Just wanna stay right here
On the sunnyside of the streetNice way of showing a point without being to direct.

HomeboyI’m tripping into the back of my mind
And your words like angels crash inside
And a word and a movement and a touch
And a word and a movement and it’s all too much
It’s all too muchI never understood what it meant to be
I never understood what it meant to be misunderstood
And even if I did, I don’t think I’d care less
And even if I did, I don’t think I’d care lessYou’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautifulI want to drown beneath the waves
I want to dig myself a shallow grave
And hold you up for all to see
I want to cut you up, I want to watch you bleed, ever so slowlyYou’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautifulI can’t follow what I don’t believe in
I can’t follow what I don’t believe in
And that’s why there’s nothing left of me
‘Cause I don’t believe in youYou’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
You’re so beautiful
you’re my homeboy, you’re my
homeboy
my homeboy, you’re my
homeboy
Beautiful
Oh god, you’re so beautifulJanuary 31, 2003 at 7:51 pm #84655Long Week-End
Love’s a frazzled row
Having to look
Outside of myself
Or else, let it goBaby say these words
Tucked away
All finite–neat & tidy
Turn the lights down lowThen fall asleep
Next to me
Knowing what I know
Feed my fears
I’ll be dreaming about it
For yearsIf you walk out
If I walk in
What difference will it make
Will it change anything?
Chaos verses the universeWe meet on impossible roads
With little connection known
Donning our appparel
Crossing in parallel
Gurgling in our own mystic cribIf you walk out
If I walk in
What difference will it make
Will it change anything?
February 2, 2003 at 4:28 pm #84656I Like this one very much. Its a Ron Sexsmith song…
Farewell Thumbelina,
Your dream has come at last
It was all you ever wanted
Now it’s all you’ll ever have
Many loved your beauty
Many loved your grace
I loved you for the courage that you showed
In that lonely place
And the longing that was yours to bare
You bore it oh so well
Farewell Thumbelina
Thumbelina farewellFarewell Thumbelina,
Standing half undressed
Beneath that yellow circus spotlight,
Before the hungry audience
You were surrounded by shadows
Each one battling for control
You fed upon their dark promises
They fed upon your soul
And you loved them like you’d love a lover
And they loved you
Like they’d love something to sell
Farewell Thumbelina
Thumbelina farewellNow the circus is deserted
Where once you thrilled the crowd
They’ve packed away the tents
There is no audience
The spotlight’s been turned out
Now many say you were a hero
Many say you were the victim of fame
Nobody wants to say
You were just another one
On the losing end of a losing game
As for me I’ll do my best
To keep your secrets well
Farewell Thumbelina
Thumbelina farewell.March 21, 2003 at 7:49 am #84657"if you want to be happy for the rest of your life never make a pretty woman your wife"

March 22, 2003 at 9:10 pm #84658Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons,
packed up and ready to go
Heard of some gravesites, out by the highway,
a place where nobody knows
The sound of gunfire, off in the distance,
I’m getting used to it now
Lived in a brownstore, lived in the ghetto,
I’ve lived all over this townThis ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco,
this ain’t no fooling around
No time for dancing, or lovey dovey,
I ain’t got time for that nowTransmit the message, to the receiver,
hope for an answer some day
I got three passports, a couple of visas,
you don’t even know my real name
High on a hillside, the trucks are loading,
everything’s ready to roll
I sleep in the daytime, I work in the nightime,
I might not ever get homeThis ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco,
this ain’t no fooling around
This ain’t no mudd club, or C. B. G. B.,
I ain’t got time for that nowHeard about Houston? Heard about Detroit?
Heard about Pittsburgh, P. A.?
You oughta know not to stand by the window
somebody might see you up there
I got some groceries, some peant butter,
to last a couple of days
But I ain’t got no speakers, ain’t got no
heaphones, ain’t got no records to playWhy stay in college? Why go to night school?
Gonna be different this time
Can’t write a letter, can’t send a postcard,
I can’t write nothing at all
This ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco,
this ain’t no fooling around
I’d like to kiss you, I’d love you hold you
I ain’t got no time for that nowTrouble in transit, got through the roadblock,
we blended with the crowd
We got computer, we’re tapping pohne lines,
I know that ain’t allowed
We dress like students, we dress like housewives,
or in a suit and a tie
I changed my hairstyle, so many times now,
I don’t know what I look like!
You make me shiver, I feel so tender,
we make a pretty good team
Don’t get exhausted, I’ll do some driving,
you ought to get some sleep
Get you instructions, follow directions,
then you should change your address
Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day,
whatever you think is best
Burned all my notebooks, what good are
notebooks? They won’t help me survive
My chest is aching, burns like a furnace,
the burning keeps me alive
Try to stay healthy, physical fitness,
don’t want to catch no disease
Try to be careful, don’t take no chances,
you better watch what you sayMarch 23, 2003 at 4:48 am #84659Db…that’s what "live during wartime"is all about, but one thing: don’t fear the music

he sells me just as a commodity
another sell out for the company
another soul down in his resume
another profit for my enemy

his ego swells with opportunity
his motivation is the royalty
another profit for my enemy

he kills off all originality
he strips it down to label policy
he markets me for mass quantity
another profit for my enemy -
