Can’t decide, to go or not to go to Smith College Show.

I could go to the show and see Sebadoh, J and Sonic youth but hace to drive 4 hours, take off half day at work, probably stay over and if not drive another 4 hours back, and spend like 200 easy. Or I could see Sebadoh in Brooklyn with the guy from Love as Laughter and then see J in May with Cat Power, and leave my wallet recovering from the $40 t-shirt I just bought. Opinions?

I think you just answered your own question by asking it. I would stay and catch J in May and then see him again with the fog in (my intuition says) November in New York.

I love the fact that the first two suggestions are different, you say go, I say stay. He saw J at the shoe store and in that club on Rivington street and he can again in May, thats a pretty good record!!!

the Smith College show appears to be something special, also Sonic Youth are playing there, and J & Lou playing on the same evening…
ok, the Fuck Cancer Benefit is also special, so if the money’s tight just take that one. But maybe you even find a way to see both events? …you’re about to win the "luckiest FreakScene member" trophy, anyway (just kidding )

OKAY Rambleon, I’m a gemini so I often change my mind. After reading Anthony’s post I would now say to AMMARINGNYC "GO"
You have a place to stay, that is the biggest expense, It would be great for both Anthony and ammaringnyc to meet up. "Cheeba" is a big expense also. You still will be out a few hundred dollars.

annastefka, to answer your when was j last in london question : j was last in london with the asheton, asheton, mascis + watt stooges tribute show in dec of 2002 … before that it was a solo + acoustic show in nov 2002 + before that it was sept of 2002 – another solo + acoustic show … 2002 was a great year for london j fans like me …

this kind of gets me thinking though … maybe there could be a part of this site (or the jmascis.com one) where there’s a list of j’s shows ??

I would go overseas to Sweden to see a J Mascis show. But my situation to live here in Finland is a little bit different than yours.. J Mascis visits Scandinavia maybe once in 8 years or so… :/

Well now I kinda want to go but the show starts at 4 and I can’t take off work so I would have to drive in rush hour traffic. What time do you think J, and Sebadoh are going on.
