      50 years ago today jazz great Charlie Parker died :( Bird as he was nicknamed changed the course of jazz forever.Wonder why jazz musicians play so fast?it goes back to Bird.Jazz sounded alot different before he came on the scene.

        …fast is right, and right on. When i first started to try to build a respectable jazz cd collection i picked out a Charlie Parker disc but wasn’t ready for it. Simply put it was too much for me at the time. I knew it was good but i didn’t get it at all. I knew i had work to do but had no idea what was ahead. One day, many years later, i put on the Parker cd and it hit me finally. I was laughing out loud at myself for being so deaf before. The sounds and speed speak soundly. Charle Parker wins forever and ever amen…

          the movie that clint eastwood directed with forest whittaker playing Bird was an dis a great movie… I only wish Foresst Whittaker did more films…
