Most important info here: All tour dates which are listed there seem to be with J on guitar (if I get it right…
)
A lovely newsletter (or should I say, amazing!
) – here it is:Subject: THE FREE AND LIBERATED COBRA VERDE NEWS
Date: Tue, 20 May 2003 07:00:14 -0700
THE FREE AND LIBERATED COBRA VERDE NEWSLETTER
In this issue:
1. New Cobra Verde CD now out! … EASY LISTENING!
2. The "Liberate us from the Dictatorship of Bad Taste Tour" commences;
3. CV called upon to agitate for REGIME CHANGE;
4. Assorted ramblings (as if everything isn’t one anyway).Motto of the day: "If 25 people bringing down a statue in a city of 5
million constitutes a "people’s liberation," then can’t a five-piece
band stage is a MASS UPRISING?"Hey Hey Hey!
How’s it going, people? Last month, we put the ONE AND ONLY
ARTIFICIAL CV NEWSLETTER to bed forever. We thought it was time to do
something more timely. Then we realized: Why even bother? We don’t even recognize the legitimacy of "these times," so much so that sometimes we forget they’re even happening. But that won’t ever stop us from publishing THE FREE AND LIBERATED COBRA VERDE NEWSLETTER.If we didn’t, how else could we tell you about our new album,
EASY LISTENING. It’s now out on Wayne Kramer — the MC5 guitar god/dude who recently made a cameo on Jennifer Aniston’s chest (she was wearing an MC5 shirt on that counter-counter show, "FRIENDS"!) — is putting it out on his L.A.-based label (http://www.muscletonerecords.com).And man, the response has taken us by surprise. For instance, we
were even written up in the Abercrombie and Fitch Summer Catalog? Can
you believe that — from a band who’s closest run-in with the fashion
police came when we were caught switching price tags at a Salvation Army store in Iowa City?We can’t believe it! The record was also called a masterpiece
somewhere ( must be some kind of art magazine). I just hope no one
proclaims "Easy Listening" "amazing," since I hear that word used so
often — usually to describe things that aren’t really that amazing,
really — that I’m starting to wonder if it really means something else. [:P FC]But anyway, the response has been pretty nuts, as you can see by
going to cobraverde.com. Totally redesigned, the site also now features a Favorite Things page that reveals which band member can read Latin (hint: it’s the Latino member) and which CVer can read backwards (hint: the one with the upside-down eyes).But enough of that. Yes, CV is going on tour, starting today. We’re
coming out as a five-piece, with J. Mascis joining us on guitar. He’s
fitting in nicely, but is bummed there isn’t enough room in the van for
his dog, Bob. Hey, I can’t bring my cat, either. [:| FC]So here are the dates. We appreciate anyone spreading the word…

11571 Waterloo Rd, Cle, OH, 216-383-1124In other news….In the last month, along with emails we got for
genital enhancement and paying down our credit cards, we received a
number of messages from people asking us what exactly are our plans for REGIME CHANGE. Well, hold on ’til next time. We’re running so late today that we’ve decided to extend our ultimatum to the government.Meantime, if you want to cheat your employer out of time, waste
it on our online mag, http://www.scamcity.com. New: Interview with Demond
Wilson, a.k.a Lamont of "Sanford and Son." Also, an interview with
Ridley Scott. And a story about how, despite the denials, we are a bunch of cowboys who invoke the myths of old westerns in foreign policy.
Other stuff: everything from stories about people with thousands of
Easter eggs in their front yards to interviews with Spike Lee and late
night horror hosts.Take it easy and hope to see you soon…
