My two have already been said but I would like to re-emphasize them…

      Temperature Control
-The Newport Music Hall in Columbus is notorious for this. If you cram several hundred people into a venue, that are all dancing around and having a good time, it’s going to get hot in there. When you combine the fact that they’re hearded, drinking, and quite irritable due to the unpleasently uncomfortable excessive heat…a stampede is going to break loose. The worst part is, it’s quite easy to remedy this solution by simply opening the side doors and ceiling vents so that a draft of cool air can come in. SInce bouncers are the ones opening can closing the doors, do you reall have to worry about x-tra fans sneaking in to catch a free show?

      Excessive Talking and Cell Phones
-At small venues, a group of excessively loud audience members or constantly ringing cell phones can easily detract from other’s enjoyment of the show. If it’s so important, take it outside and come back after you’re through. If you can’t get through a show without having to chat w/ someone on the phone and that person is so much more important then the artists you came to see, do you really have any business being there in the first place? (This also incredibly annoys me at the movies, especially since they take time b4 the movie to ask that you please don’t distract others around you.)

I once heard that during a Primus concert, some neanderthal in the crowd threw a beer bottle at the band and it landed on the stage. :(

Primus immediately stopped the song they were playing, began singing repeated verses of "Good night sweet heart, well it’s time to go…do do do de do…good night sweet heart, well it’s time to go…do do do de do…" and promptly walked off the stage ending the show.

Does anyone know if this is valid or not? If so, I sincerely hope that the ass throwing the bottle had the living tar kicked out of him/her by the rest of the audience who missed out. 8)

Not neccesarily Primus, but bands have quit after being heckled/having things thrown at them. Most recently this has happened with the Sex Pistols. (ironic?)

-I don’t know why this bothers me, but don’t be one of the people sitting around the back of the venue/standing outside talking. If you want to talk, go to a cofee shop, if you want to hear a band play, go to a show.

If your club is in the most dangerous neighborhood in town put some lights up around the building    Seems like a simple thing, think they’ll finally get around to it following the death of a 15 yr old who was killed behind the club last friday, couple weeks ago a Japanese bands roadie was shot & beaten just outside the door during a show… This club gets some of the best shows in town, the alley behind the club is a territory division line between two nasty street gangs, crack houses galore up the street, chaos 24/7, I usually take a cab versus leaving my car outside to get smashed up…again :slap:

I drive by this place to get to work, the club has one small dim lite out front, none on the sides or the alley behind the club, they promise you’re safe once you get inside… :?

Not to change the subject, but a well-lit area is actually one of the number one ways to prevent/deter crime. Recent studies have shown that wide open/poorly-lit areas are more likely to have a crime occur when compared to areas that are well-lit w/poor visibility (i.e. limited line/distance of sight, numerous turns, extensive landscaping, or other obstacles that make it hard to see)

Peeve #3-People who thinks it’s cool not to bath for three or four days and then come to packed shows reaking of BO, alcohol, cigarettes, and whatever else. In general, smelling like a pile of fresh poo. (You know, the kind that smell so bad you can taste it?) Especially…when there is no climate control and it’s very hot w/ no air circulation.

I was at this hippy show on Friday to catch up w/ some old friends. No offense to the longhairs, but the smell of dirty bodies, beer, pot, and patchouli, was so thick and overwhelming I wanted to throw-up. Covering three days of body odor w/ cheap cologne or whatever else doesn’t cut it. And if you don’t believe in wearing deodorant that’s your choice. But at least have the decency to bath on a regular basis so that everyone else doesn’t have to suffer…stink butt!!! :P

                It’s Patchulli oil, thank you.

And I don’t think any decent club has ever been properly ventelated. It’s atmosphere.

Yeah, well it smells like crap, especially when people are drenched in gallons of it. In fact, any aroma in excess or concentrated form tends to be overwhelming and unbearable for those smelling it.

Patchouli or Patchouly-1. An East Indian mint that yields a heavy, dark brown, fragrant oil. :P

This is what’s wrong with ebonics. It’s a whole language based on laziness and phonetic spelling rather than taking the time to learn to spell, pronounce, and articulate correctly, cloaked under the guise of racial and cultural aspects. It’s English. There are rules for using it, just like there are rules for every engagement in life. If you want to get ahead, learn them. 8)

Um. . . did I miss something here.
