i personally am a huge dead meadow fan. i saw them open for J and the fog a few years back, and they blew me away. they were extremely loud, even louder than J that night.luckily in the next few months, they played 2 free shows at a club in town and were even better.all thier albums are great….its hard to descibe them really. i guess stoner rock, but they arent like the regular riff rock you think of with that genre. thier guitarist is just soloing constantly, with nonstop wah and they use an echoplex, so its very trippy. i am more a fan of the heavy fuzzed out stuff on thier earlier stuff, but i really love thier new album…its very mellow and every song is almost mesmerizing…
Beyond the Fields we Know is my favorite of all their songs, one of my favorite songs ever. its on thier first album, if you get a chance check it out
April 11, 2006 at 7:56 am #116141I saw them open for Super Furry Animals a couple of years ago and thought they were great live. I’m looking forward to seeing them open for dino tonight!
April 12, 2006 at 12:36 pm #116142They’re great, I have a few of their albums. They’re awesome live.
April 20, 2006 at 1:47 pm #116143ok, im bumping this thread cause i think many of you need to get into this band. they are amazing!
April 20, 2006 at 5:19 pm #116144I want whatever echo apparatus the guitar player had at the show. It sounded great.
April 20, 2006 at 8:26 pm #116145they use an Echoplex. its real old and i dont know much about it, but they are vary rare. it somehow uses a tape loop to mimic the sound of echoes in a canyon, its an old device though, from the early 60s i think, but it does produce an amazing echo/delay effect
April 20, 2006 at 9:26 pm #116146Man, all the cool stuff is old and expensive. I got into a semi conversation with some guy at the show about the kinda amp he uses (Fender Super Reverb), and he told me they had one at some shop around here but then I forgot the name of the place…
What I really want is an Electra Psychadelic Machine, but I’m pretty sure they’re just a myth.
April 20, 2006 at 9:33 pm #116147seeing them live is an experience…..Orange amps everywhere, loud as hell, non stop wah and echo, pounding drums and a really great bassist too….they have it all.
im glad to see they got rid of the second guitarist…the one time i saw them with him was my least fav show of all the ones ive seen
they are THEEE power trio right now…..next to dino of course!

i wish theyd stop around here again
May 22, 2006 at 11:04 am #116151I saw Dead Meadow last night and they were amazing, I think they’re better live than on CD, the wah solos were hypnotic…. i wished i had some weed when they started playin. I’ve only listened to the first album and they played my favorite song from it ‘Sleepy Silver Door’ last, and they dragged it on for about 10 minutes, it was awesome!
