……surprising combination…… (or was Sandy Denny the Grrrndmothrrr of the Riot Grrrls
)
December 22, 2003 at 2:41 pm #97908Yeah,strange combo but Mary Lou Lord is a huge Sandy Denny fan and she did a single once with Tobi Vail of Bikini Kill(the Some Jingle Jangle Morning single)and Tobi sang lead vocals on that Hamster Baby song so there you go

Grandmas of the riot girls:The Shaggs!

December 23, 2003 at 7:30 am #97911Love the entry and exit to this mix! Plus, any mix with No Use For A Name is a friend of mine
December 23, 2003 at 7:47 am #97912I was listening to that No Use For A Name album(Leche Con Carne) the other day,I have`nt listened to it for 3 years I think.Fatal Flu is the best song
December 23, 2003 at 7:56 am #97913Definetely! Love the opening lines of that song.
I think their best albums are Daily Grind or NRA Years though.
btw, what do you make of their redemption song cover on leche? I’m not sure, some times I think it’s cool, others it’s kinda goofy.December 23, 2003 at 9:33 am #97914I think their best album is Making Friends but I don`t have The Daily Grind or NRA Years.I like their version of Redemption Song,their cover of Fairytale Of New York I find disappointing though;it would have sounded better at a neckbreaking pace instead of mid tempo and Cinder Block from Tilt is usually a great singer sounds uninspired and does`nt put the sass and spunk that Kirsty Maccoll put in the original.
