Oh Comely Robert, I love that NMH disk………I eat it up on a regular basis especially If I want to unwind after a hectic day.

and Jack Black in "School of Rock" driving in his van shoving his fist in the air and belting out the words "Hammer of the Gods"
with his crazy eyes…………that is totally me.

I had Bucky’s idea but I knew it wouldn’t fly far.

…the AllMusicGuide review says it best:

          Quote:
Young Marble Giants’ Colossal Youth, is a collection of sparse, evocative tunes emphasizing Alison Statton’s floating vocals and minimal guitar/organ/bass/drum machine arrangements. Comparable to little else from its time or since, this is rock music at its most austere. The original album had 15 songs; a subsequent CD added a few more. But the 1994 edition on Crepuscule is the one to buy, pushing the total to 24 tracks, with additions from the Testcard EP, the 1979 "Final Day" single, and a compilation cut — everything they ever did, in fact.

            Dinosaur Jr. – Fossils

couldn’t decide which one so this seems best option plus Just Like Heaven is my all-time track of the everything so i’d need this to have that

Louis Armstrong – best of the hot five’s and seven’s

my favorite era of jazz, music is so raw and yet perfect. I’d rather have the complete box, but i don’t even own that yet so it’s be hard to take with me, this collection is my goto bad day disc puts me in happy thoughts

            Dinosaur Jr. – Green Mind

after much consideration i came to decide this would be the way to go, Fossils would give me enough early classics to rock out to but this is just that album that makes sense to have as a whole, plus just the track Green Mind has gotten me through some tough times.

that’s three, gave serious consideration to many Thelonious Monk albums but couldn’t find one that would be better and a few other artists entered my mind but that’s the list…

The other day I read the best description of the Young Marble Giants:the missing link between Suicide and Belle And Sebastian :)

I found out recently that Jack Black`s father in law is jazz bassist Charlie Haden.I`m hoping that means a School Of Jazz movie is in the works.

Get the JSP box. It`s cheaper than the Columbia one with only a few tracks missing.100 songs on 4 discs.

I think it`s SY`s worst. It is`nt bad but it is`nt good either.Maybe I just like when they do long songs and on EJSTANS they do short songs.

Seaweed ~ Four, this album is a classic. Arguably their best, I’ve listened to it for years and I’ve never once gotten tired of it. Not to mention I know these guys too.

Afghan Whigs ~ Black Love, Not sure what it is about this one. There is just a swagger on this album that isn’t on the others. Simply amazing. Again all killer no filler.

I hardly listen to Seaweed`s Four.I need to pull that out more often.Gentlemen is easily my fave Afghan Whigs record.Black Love is certainly a strong one too.

I believe May 1st Rhino is releasing a Whigs retrospective. It has 2 new songs on it they just recorded last fall. The album is going to be called Unbreakable, the track listing is as follows:

                          1- Retarded
                          2- Crazy
                          3- Turn On The Water
                          4- Debonair
                          5- I’m A Soldier (New Track)
                          6- 66
                          7- Be Sweet
                          8- Come See About Me
                          9- Uptown Again
                          10- What Jail Is Like
                          11- Magazine (New Track)
                          12- I’m Her Slave
                          13- Going To Town
                          14- Gentlemen
15- Let Me Lie To You
                          16- John the Baptist
                          17- Crime Scene Part One
                          18- Faded

Sounds like a good one, I’m anxious to hear the new ones.

Yeah I agree with conjure me and my curse, How could I forget about those 2.

The Big Top Halloween stuff is hard to find, not a lot of people know about or have even heard that stuff. So I understand that one though it would have been cool to hear some of that stuff again.

one of them would be dinosaur jr. – ear bleeding country, because it has most of their best and coolest songs. its a shame some songs weren’t included.
