I’m really looking forward to this performance. Hopefully they don’t play Almost Ready again. Did anyone else think that it was weird that they played it two times on national television (Craig Ferguson and David Letterman)? I would love to here them play Back To Your Heart or Were Not Alone.
July 4, 2007 at 12:11 pm #130502hmm its a little bit weird that they play it all the time like its their best song but its an okay song. they should play something from Dinosaur, like Gargoyle or something.

I, too, can’t figure out why it happens to be the one they trot out on all the tv appearances. There are a number of things about the groove they’ve settled into since the album’s release that I can’t really figure out.
July 4, 2007 at 1:02 pm #130504Maybe it’s just the song they felt most comfortable playing…

yeah maybe, its pretty easy and i think everyones confotable with it.
July 4, 2007 at 3:53 pm #130506Well, it’s a "catchy" song don’t you think? When they do these shows it’s for promotion, not for the converted. Freaksceners know about the band and are going to buy "Beyond" I really like the song! I like the words, I like the melody.

July 4, 2007 at 4:05 pm #130507Time is money, especially in TV-land. "Almost Ready" is a pretty short song which probably pleases the tv show producers to no end. Get’em on, get’em off, thanks for coming, drive home safely, g’night!
July 4, 2007 at 7:28 pm #130508I love the song, it’s one of my favorites off the new album, but they should play another track off Beyond.

July 5, 2007 at 12:06 am #130510whatever song they play, you gotta hand it to Dino mgmt/promotion. They know how to get the boys on TV.

July 6, 2007 at 12:26 pm #130513I always thought Crumble would have been a perfect radio single. I bet it would go over great on Conan too.
July 6, 2007 at 12:43 pm #130514Here, in Finland, Conan is pretty much the only talk show in television. I’d hate it if they’d play "Almost Ready". As much as people say (in reviews and such things) that it’s a culmination of Dinolike guitar work, I’ve always thought that it’s not such a good example of Dinosaur Jr. To me Dino is about much more extraordinary chords, structures and solos than what "Almost Ready" has. Playing it just doesn’t give a good view of the DJR big picture. I’d hate it if everybody thought that Dinosaur is a standard punk band. It’s so much more about rock (or atleast I think so).
Well, maybe it’s good to play Almost Ready, because simplicity might be good in talk show situations.. But nah
July 6, 2007 at 2:48 pm #130515So when is this?
Almost ready is a good song for a tv-show since one doesn’t have to listen to it too many times to like it. It’s a catchy song. This kind of song might also get other people than "extreme-freakscene-fanatics" interested in Dinosaur Jr, which I think is cool. What Dino plays on their ordinary gigs is another thing. That is the place where the fans need their favourite songs.
