Hi.
This is nothin new to you fans and not myself either.
I’ve had the dinosaur album for several years, and first heard it around 1990.
I’ve thought of the album as pure amazing stuff.sometimes I get these ideas about songs and now while listening to the song pointless, I am strucked by how brilliant the slow part is (1:45 into the song)
I’ve often thought how much jane’s addiction stuff resembles to this. The beautiful and soft guitar playing with the talking in the background.. very beautiful listening.
and mountain man.. pure amazing punk/rock n’ roll
all songs are totally amazing..

July 22, 2003 at 11:18 pm #94969Another amazing thing about Dinosaur is that J has only been playing guitar for no more than a year from what I’ve heard. J’s guitar work is very sloppy on this album but his song writing is very talented. The days when he valued creativity rather than guitar wankfest
July 23, 2003 at 2:50 am #94970the guitar work is not sloppy…the mountain man riff is not sloppy. it takes some years playing to get it right rhytmical, the same goes for the Am -Em stuff on the verse on Forget the swan. If it’s true that he’d only played the guitar for one year by then, I’m sure he spent quite many hours in his room learning to play. But he had an advance by having a good rhytm sense in his body through drumming. So it can be right, what you’re saying Mjw 666 about ca one year of playing, but it sounds kinda strange…
July 23, 2003 at 4:57 pm #94971Yes it does sound kind of strange, I remember reading somewhere that J said he hated playing chords because it hurts his fingers, so he spent most his time learning lead parts of rolling stones songs. lots of J’s songs are made up of simple chord progressions (lots of D, G ,C and Em) but J’s rhythm and melodic sense is skillful (eg Ammaring). Does anyone know the chords for ‘flying cloud’ ?. Sounds like chords Ive never used. OK, his guitar work was not sloppy, I was probably trying to say that it was rough (as with the production).
