Same thing happened to Brian Jonestown Massacre almost a year ago, after playing in Brooklyn. The same night Witch opened, I think.
August 31, 2006 at 5:26 pm #121220Well I can’t help but to sort of agree with Sonicdeathmonkey. As much as I hope that the gear will be returned instantly, as much as this really fucking sucks, as much as J and the guys must be pissed off and sad… it’s only gear (no matter how impossible to replace identically) and the band with all its members can go on playing/creating music… there are so many extreme violations happening in the world that are of even less reversible kinds… anyway, hope the efforts will help to bring the stuff back.
August 31, 2006 at 5:53 pm #121221i hate fucking people who steal i am so sorry that you guys are just doing what you love to do and someone has to fuck with you.i know i speak for everyone i will help as much a possible.

BASTARDS Stole Dinosaur Jr’s Equipment!!!-staticmedia.com
Rolling Stone had this blurb…
Quote:Dinosaur Jr.’s gear was recently stolen out of the band’s van parked outside their hotel in Long Island City. The saddest part is how, in the press release (excerpts from which appear after the jump,) they describe the missing guitars like lost puppies. Won’t someone bring those Fender Jazzmasters home?Hope they get the stuff back!

Message from J
I am sad to lose some old and irreplaceable guitars, most of them older than me. One was a prototype for my first signature series Jazzmaster which Fender is putting out, and some old trusty guitars that survived my house burning a few years ago. Sitting in the rubble of my basement after the fire went out my main Jazzmaster was completely black from smoke and singed by the fire but when I picked it up it was still in tune. I’ll miss em.
September 1, 2006 at 9:51 am #121228I didn’t know Fender was issuing a J signature guitar. That’s pretty cool. He’s now in the company of Lemmy, for whom Rickenbacker made a custom-line bass about 10 years ago. The thing sounds absolutely vicious when he plays it live.
September 1, 2006 at 11:00 am #121229Holy sh*t, that sucks, hope that the gear will turn up somewhere soon….
-dB, from Switzerland, missed this one yesterday because I was in a train the whole day, and I only just found out how the wireless net functions over here….

One page article about Witch. Check out this quote from J
"I just got pictures of a prototype model Jazzmaster that Fender is gonna make for me. It has a tune-o-matic bridge, a gold pickguard like the ’59 ones, and a purple sparkle finish and matching headstock. I’m not sure if it will be a production model yet."
There’s also a full page interview with J in a Marshall amps promo suppliment with Guitarist that’s mildly interesting.

September 2, 2006 at 9:46 am #121231Just noticed that this is mentioned on the ATP festival website on the news page, so this should raise some more awareness
