I’m all for cool Dino swag, but is this a joke? Am I actually going to be able to buy those things this fall, and if so where? Definately weird. :-
Despite the fact that I don’t really care about the ‘selling out,’ I’m still confused as to how this shoe came about. It’s so fucking weird!

Didn’t J do some sort of deal back in the ’90s with a skate outfitter? Or was the skate designer responsible for album art? There was something like that. I don’t see that as all that different from a shoe deal, although I had forgotten about the whole sweatshop fiasco. Since the shoes are probably out of my price range, I’ll just pretend I am still boycotting Nike…
Its not that weird Dino is probably the biggest or top 3 at least biggest skateboarding band. So why is it weird that they are on skateboarding sneakers. THey had a skateboarding company t-shirt,Alien Workshop. J did the soundtrack for one of their viedeos. And they also appear in at least 5 others I can think of off hand. and there even was a skateboard with the where you been graphics but I think that was a rip off. My only problem is why they are so ugly. The should be low tops with green and purple with the dino on the bag and forget that little dude put the cow on one and the monkey on the other.
Yeah it looks like these are skatebording shoes from Nike. This particular style has many different incarnations. I just read that J and Mudhoney had played some Nike skate party, maybe thats where J was approached about the idea. Still its totally weird. I’m guessing these will be a limited edition shoe, and that we should get them quick before they sell out.

Hello Freaksceners… We saw that images of the shoes have surfaced. There was a lot of subsequent talk about the bands supposed cash profit from the shoes, etc. For the record neither J nor Dinosaur Jr made any money from these shoes… there will be a few available via retail, this was just a fun thing for J to do. Nike approached us about doing a skate shoe and said J could make them any style or color he wanted… this was what he came up with. Thanks.

I dont get the sell out thing. To me, selling out means compromising your art to make a buck. J’s a musician. How does a pair of shoes mean he’s "selling out"?
The guys an adult, with bills to pay and a family. I wish he got money from the shoes. J’s brought much joy to my life with his music, I’d love to see the guy get rich.
