Hey Chicago Fog, I wish I had a little time but to save others from my spiritual ramblin’, I will PM you…my son just dropped his homemade playdough on the ground and it now has dog hairs on it and he is really…really…mad. I have been following your posts and I really like what I have read from you,(There are a handfull of intelligent posters here and I enjoy what they have to say) plus having Fog as part of your name makes me smile. That force that holds atoms together, that same force and interconnects us all…..
more on that later….but the world is in critical need of love….What I have taught my children is to take time to turn their attention inward…daily…turn off the outside world. Thats where true peace is found…the peace that passes all understanding. My oldest, right now is totally on a Hindu/Shiva trip….taking time to read and understand, she is going to the Library and has visited with friends who practice this religion. I really will support them in whatever way they decide to turn inwards. I think it is important for my kids to understand and to connect to their inner life…to spirit….it is as important to feed the soul as it is to feed the tummy. I ask that everyone try prayer/meditation (talking/listening) for 6-8 weeks…journal….watch your dreams…..I find that with prayer and meditation…life becomes almost effortless…..problems become easily fixed..instead of causing strife problems seem almost inconsequential, most often humorous..as solution manifests itself almost magically….but I can always tell when I haven’t made time for God…my life will get bat shat crazy….my day full of flusters and then…..I’m always like….Geez, I need to stop and connect. Okay, my date is here to take me out to dinner (my good friend Holly-bug) Oh, let’s PM, I want to know about your cancer (I know not the funnest subject) what kind, how awful or not was treatment and if it changed you in any way. Also, I would love to pray for you (add you to my prayers….I often add J and the gang…his wife and baby to my prayers) I love to pray….it’s the sweetest part of my day… I also love my morning poop, that can be a very sweet part of the day for a Mother of four, the last moment of quiet and bliss before it all gets so busy….also,is there anything greater than knowing your body is working perfectly and for me like clockwork? I just did a trip out of town and we had to poop in the forest every morning…my girlfriends and I would be squatting and pooping and we were laughing together and each morning I would yell out loud…"I love pooping" and another girl would yell back "me too!" I want to go back and live in the forest again for a few weeks. I have taken this Jimmy Fallon thing way off but I really do enjoy my morning rituals (prayer and pooping) Oh, life is sooooo good right now, except for the dog hair in Alvaro playdough. Peace Out. Do you honestly believe this? Really? Do you have any idea how shallow, selfish and obnoxious thinking like this?
This almost gets me angry. Why do you think you are so special that an invisible force is listening to you? ….and answers you. How small is your world? What about all the people who do not have their prayers answered? Were they less sincere? Were they less important than you? Were they praying to the wrong deity? Were they subhuman? did they not ‘get’ the correct image in the Kevin Smith movie (he also directed Dogma which mocks religion specifically The Catholic Church.) Did the people praying on the planes that crash not say ‘Amen?’ Were they a bunch of sinners? Was God pooping in the woods with his friends when the plane was going down and he couldn’t get to them in time? Of course not. No one is listening to you. There are no powers paying special attention to your needs. You mention ‘Faith’ and I am supposed to say ‘oh okay’ and back off. No its dumb and I am going to call you on it and say its bullshit. You say your life becomes ‘effortless’ you have ‘magical’ solutions when you whisper to the sky. That’s how crazy people talk -period. The only thing Bat Shit crazy is you believing God is paying special attention to your special needs. You do need to stop and connect -WITH REALITY.

Great analogy!(seriously) what is different from someone thinking the neighbor’s dog is guiding him as opposed to someone thinking an invisible ‘power’ is guiding him. Both are equally concerning to me. We can see the dog and say ‘Wow! that’s crazy’ ..and he believed in the Dog so much that he killed people! We again say "Wow, that’s crazy" but at the exact same time people gather in churches and believe they are drinking the blood of a 2000 year old man…not symbolic but REALLY believe it is flesh and blood that they are consuming. They believe whole heartedly in ‘The Holy Spirit.’ And to even doubt the existence of this spirit is the ONLY sin that there is zero chance of being saved from. I say all of that (and I could go on for hours with more examples) is just as crazy as the guy who talks to the dog.

In your quote you actually confirm my point there is no outside force. It is only the person acting crazy and believing a delusion. Take that point and apply it to an Abrahamic God. Now, if you start believing a delusion to be real, and you take the messages of the bible or Koran, etc. most of us should be killed or I should have 300 wives, etc.. A person of perfect faith is a very dangerous person indeed. If you take for example The Westboro Baptist Church these people understand what the Bible actually says better than most Christians. I don’t see how any reasonable person can not say that is alarming and downright frightening. I gather that you are taking the stance that if I don’t practice all the quirks and rituals of an organized Religion that somehow makes you "less extreme" or "no threat" but that simply tells me you are picking and choosing what "fits" for you and dismissing the parts that don’t "fit." Any person talking to a Dog or a "Spirit" is (and should be) equally of concern. You point out an example where a man believes a dog is talking to him and he kills, do you have any idea how many times I tell you about a time where someone believed that God or a spirit (Holy) told him to kill? Thousands of times perhaps millions of times. I would bet you never for a moment believe that a man lived inside a fish (I hope) as the Bible states. So the discussion would need to narrowed to a definition of who you are praying to. An Abrahamic God, Jesus, Horus, The Flying Spaghetti Monster or is it another more vague unnamed Deity? Is the power you are praying to The Natural World? Once that is defined we could drill into it further. Or we could talk about J. There is no need to pray for me.

Of Course, God is listening to me……I can hear my prayer,I am a part of God….what we call "God" is not separate from me…it’s the very essence of me. What about all the people who do not have their prayers answered? Do you think I have had everything I wanted in life? God always answers my prayers….it’s just in some cases the answer is "NO"…..

The problem with religion….is man (people)….yes, it has been very corrupted….because of sin….the things that have been done in the name of religion are horrible, but just as horrible as many things that have been done "not in the name of any religion"…even Jesus saw this coming…because mankind tends to revert back to the 7 deadly sins…always…even when dealing with their "faith"….pride, envy, greed, anger….Jesus gave us (like many other enlightened men) a great solution, Jesus spoke about all of us being children (a product of) God and that the only way to get back to "the garden" is through the "me" part of ourselves,(by turning inward) but somehow we have corrupted that all, and have made it…that Jesus said the only way to get out of this mess (karmic entanglement called life) is through "him"…Also, I believe that the Bible…is not the word of God (the Catholics also believe this) the Bible is a collection of stories that was written by "men" and as we know, until a person has raised their vibration, they will always tend to fall back on sin. If you are not interested in the spiritual aspect of your person…then don’t spend any time with it.
The whole idea of "The Devil" (if you notice, on the Tarot card for instance, the Devil is a "man" with "horns") is signifying our rise, through evolution, out of our animal nature.

animals,by nature, need to have lust, greed, pride, anger and so on….to survive. If you are really up in Chicago, you probably don’t get to see many animals in the wild, doing their animal thing. Unless, of course, you count, the hoards of unenlightened people walking the streets. We have a field day here, the lust that our Billy goat has, OMG…I swear, he almost kills himself daily from screwing. (this will settle as the weather gets cooler) I was just at a friends house with several roosters (many which are the sons of the main cock) Oh, the pride that roosters have and the envy, he has his whole group of girls, and he struts around with them, and if one of the other guys even looks at one of his girls…the anger…the wrath. Our dogs have a pecking order, I feed the dogs at the same time but the others wait until the alpha male has finished eating before they start. When we take our dogs on trips with friends who also have dogs…there is always a fun few minutes while we wait for the males to settle, who is going to be top dog.

The true nature of our spirit has been "hidden" behind our ego. Damn, I have nothing to say….you caught me on a good day…you win (I’m actually not trying to prove anything…really)…, Our dear family dog died this evening ..(he was 13 years old)..and I so kept it together for the kids, made it a real positive thing….now, that it’s time for bed, knowing that he is in a box by the door and not sleeping on the floor next to my bed, knowing I’ll never see him running around the field in the morning harrassing the goats is making me feel a little speechless right now. I’m sure to be better soon.
