I always wear earplugs now. When J was touring as the FOG with Mike and George, I attended the Austin Show at the Mercury Lounge. Needless to say, I lost about 1/4 of my hearing in my right ear.
June 21, 2007 at 6:14 pm #129011to tell ya the truth, ive been to 3 or 4 of these reunion shows, and none of them were that loud at all. ive seen local bands play louder around here, i dont think earplugs are necessary, but if ya want to usse them, go for it
July 3, 2007 at 6:35 am #129012I didn’t wear earplugs at the show in Berlin, ’cause I did not need some. Yeah, it was loud….being honest: it has to be loud ! GREAT SHOW…!

October 14, 2007 at 1:01 pm #129015I like most you guys am in a band. We’re playing at ridiculous volumes and my hearings "feeling the pain"(Ha). I have been born with a defected ear.My hearings seriously, really screwed up. I’m using those ear plugs that look like marshmallows(it’s the best description I can get right now). They could work better. I would appreciate if someone knows a more advanced level of ear protection, what protectors does Lou,Murph and J use,any links to companies or distributors you know.
Thanks.

April 20, 2009 at 11:27 am #129017I used earplugs when I played in a band a few years back…our guitarist was a Gibson/Marshall guy who said it "just didn’t sound right" unless he cranked it up to 11. After our first practice in a confined space (sans earplugs), my ears rang for 3 days straight…and I had to upgrade MY amp to actually hear myself play. Earplugs are probably the only reason I’m not stone deaf right now.
June 7, 2009 at 6:56 am #129018I’m so glad i read this page.
Me and my friend are going to the London gig, and I forgot about earplugs.
Anyone else going to that gig?
Are they really that loud lol!?

July 20, 2009 at 7:24 am #129020I went to the London gig, left my ear plugs at work and my ears rang for 5 days!
Thing about that gig was the sound was rubbish, J’s guitar not only drowned out Lou’s bass but Murphs drums! That should never happen at any gig ever.
