Keep the same line-up.George & Watt were fuckin ace at Glasgow the other week. One of the best gigs I’ve seen in years!! If you had to add anybody, what about Wayne Kramer & Ron Asheton on guitars, and maybe Scott Asheton on drums ,or Rat Scabies. And Segs from The Ruts on bass!!

Hey Salmiguy,

I really hope he wears the make up for that coffee commercial. Would be cool if he did a short solo video or something on the benefits of being over caffeinated….sounds cool

ps in open topic there is a thread about the commercial use of cool songs…somewhere down there, we may have to add Paul to that thread

Bean, thanks for digging up a thread (that I’ve never have seen before) from very long time ago!

My dream line-up:

J. / Neil Young – guitar
Kira Roessler / Mike Watt – bass/double bass (whatever they want to play…)
Earl Harvin / Meg White – drums

….should be an amazing six-piece band….

a word of explanation:

J. and Neil: …no explanation needed I think…
Mike Watt: idem
Kira Roessler: from Black Flag, plays together with Mike Watt as Dos, just two basses, amazing stuff!
Earl Harvin: amazing jazz-drummer that can rock hard as well (saw him live with The The, wow!!!!)
Meg White: from the White Stripes, very basic ‘rhythm-hitting’ drummer, should make an interesting combination…….

Hey,

Could have sworn I posted my preferences to this list…whoops.

I agree with Alfie above about the last Fog line up, Watt, George and J were a wicked combo. With Ron Asheton it must have been absolutely perfect!!!

I kinda liked RJ’s idea of cloning J to be honest, have been working on that for awhile… But would love to see Captain Sensible, Brian James or Wayne Kramer on 2nd guitar, Captain Sensible on bass (clone him as well ) Rat Scabies or Scott Asheton on drums. Yeah that would be cool, I should have just said I would agree with Alfies whole post…yeah thats it

J on lead guitar
Bob Mould on rhythm guitar
Mike Watt on bass
Steve Shelley or Grant Hart on drums

They could call themselves:
Huskersaurhose
Sonicdinominutedu
Dinoyouthfire

Yeah, when Asheton played with them it was pretty incredible. It was so…weird to see J playing rhythm guitar, taking a side-car to someone else, ya know? Kinda like Madonna doing backup vocals. He was definitely enjoying himself though, and it was just wild to have six extra strings in there. At first I wondered how he would adjust (he seems to have a pretty healthy ego, at least when it comes to being band frontman), but it was fantastic. Pretty hard to replicate with words.

Dunno, just thought I’d throw that out there.

j on drums and vox
watt on bass
mike johnson and thurston on guitars

always wanted to see j play the drums, hearing him on albums like whatever’s cool and without a sound is amazing, mike johnson is a great guitarist, saw him solo in 96, guitar work on his first solo album is great, as well as his stuff on the last 3 lanegan albums. of course thurston there as well- heard him a long time ago mention that bug was one of the greatest albums ever made- nice
