anyone familiar w/ dreamweaver4?
I’ve created a master template that I am building all of my webpages from. However, all the pages I’ve created using the template have links that are in the wrong order. There’s a way to create a file so that if i change anything in the template, EVERY page I’ve created so far that USES THIS template, will also change WITHOUT me having to go in and change EACH individual page. Does anyone know what i’m talking about? …and if so, can you tell me how to do it? all help is greatly appreciated!!!

if you save a file as a template, and if you have other files using the template. you can update the links by either connecting to the site locally or remotely, and the links will update.

I’ve created a master template, using tables and editable regions, that I then used to create all my webpages from. I saved the table that contains all my links as an "unedible region". However, I want to change the appearance of this "links" table. So, I need to change the template and then apply this new template layout to all the pages that I created using the template.

See what I’m saying? I can’t adjust the pages because of the uneditable region. I can only change the template. But I know there’s a way to change the template and then apply the change to all my pages.

Any more ideas?

yes you need to define a site. then, when you save the template with any changes it will then give you the option to apply the ‘global’ changes.

sounds like that is all you were missing

…moving to geeky tech chat you geek.

hey, this was definately technical help and questions material…I don’t know why u put it here Man, AGAP calls me a #*##, and now Jeremiah calls me geek. WTF?

Yeah Jeremiah got it. I had my template saved as an htm.page but not in the DW4 templates folder. Dreamweaver wasn’t recognizing it. Once I put it in the templates folder, I was able to then "define a site." Bingo, cache memory opened up and I was able to adjust all pages built from the template w/ a few simple clicks.

It’s always something little and stupid that gets me!
