and has anybody tried the BOSS Xtortion?

I´m kind of lost…got some money and i dunno what i need and want to buy..
I´m sick and tired of my zoom player 2000 ..anything other than that would be better

I bought a old peavy bandit …

thinking of buying a old bad horsie wah.

or maby those stompboxes from line 6 is good..

well a sustainer will allow u to hold a note for as long as you want they are really kool to use….overdrive ..wow how to describe …….ahh ive got it ….teen spirit dun nu nu …nun nu nu ..nunnunu ……..drums kick in and guitar suddenly sounds a lot kooler….there is ure overdrive

A compresser controls the overall volume of your guitar signal. If used too much, this will kill your tone. but it can be used for some very cool volume swell effects, play real soft and it will bring your volume up to level.

A phaser adds a set number of tone drops to your guitar signal. Sonically speaking this can either sound like a rotary speaker cabinet (real smeary tone) or, when turned up, it sounds like a ray gun.

An overdrive sounds like an amp turned all the way up.

all the overdrives Ive ever tried ive never liked. DS-1’s sound ok, and the Grunge pedal sounds ok, but those are distortion pedals not overdrive. Kurt alsways used (live) a DS-1 then switched to a DS-2 on the Nevermind tour. On the In Utero tour he used the Ds-2 and a Sans Amp. I used a Big Muff Reissue in recording and it actually turned out good. Just go into a music store and ask to try out some stuff and theyll let you, or if you dont have a shop around you, I dont know what to tell you. What sound are you trying to get anyway?

no, i usually dont try things Ill never afford. Overdrive in general is too weak for me though. Usually pedals over $100 I dont even pick up.I havent tried any pedals in a long time cause ive got more than I need right now.

I ain’t trying to get some special sound…I got my style when i play so…
but if anyone have heard the frist solo on J Frusciantes new one …hmm something like that.

Warning though: Compressers can destroy tone. You might want to try out a straight up distortion box for a similar effect.

If you don’t know exactly what you want, you might just want to try a multieffect like the zoom 506, they go for $50 or less on the used market and will give you an idea of what different effects sound like.

Most people seem to be really confused about this so:

Compressor/Sustainer
As u can guess it can sustain your sound for longer, but you’ve really gotta hear it before u can understand what it sounds like

phaser
This gives s kind of sweeping/swirling effect which makes your note seem as if it is going up and down repeatedly

overdrive
This overdrives your guitar signal basically (duh) by adding more gain to it. It won’t sound very good if you want a distorted tone, in which case you need dstortion. But if you already have your guitar slightly distorted, overdrive just makes it more distorted.

Feedback Modelling
Does exactly what it says on the tin: models feedback. This is usefull if you want feedback without having to turn your amp up real loud.
