Here in Europe we are counting down for the start of the E.C in Portugal.
Question:1) What will be the final
2) Who will be Europian champ
3) Who will be the topscorer?Keep in mind what Gary Linneker (Former Englands striker) once said: Soccer is a game with a ball, 22 players and the game ends after 90 minutes, and in the end Germany wins

I think:
1) Portugal – Spain
2) Portugal
3) HenriJune 1, 2004 at 2:15 am #1023671) France – Spain
2) France
3) HenriJune 1, 2004 at 4:17 am #1023681) France – Italy
2) Italy

1) Portugal — Holland
2) Holland

3) Van NistelrooySpeaking for myself, I’ve been disappointed to often by the orange to be enthousiastic before they are in the final, and even then I still have my doubts and shivers.
Ã? think I have a "penalty-shoot-out- trauma"
I am looking forwards to the euro 2004 though, speacialy with the thought that I will see most matches outside, at bars is sunny Samos, Greece

3) Van NistelrooyYes, I am Dutch, and I don’t think that Holland will do well in Euro2004. We have some of the best players in the world, but somehow they don’t seem to function as a team, and the manager Dick Advocaat isn’t able to do something about it. I think that will be the strength of a team like Germany, just a couple of average players, but in a tournament like this they will be highly motivated, and work as a team, and a team like France combines individual class wit team spirit, while Holland will behave (and function) like a bunch of spoiled school kids who are forced to spend a couple of weeks together, thinking of the nice holiday they could have had instead…..
Tonight’s 3-0 against the mighty Faroer Islands
didn’t make me more optimistic as well…June 2, 2004 at 4:22 am #102372But it should! Good practice games are a bad, bad sign. The more mediocre the practice matches, the better the actual tournament. Our 0-1 against Belgium was an excellent start of the practice campaign, and if only we could have lost last night we would definitely be winning Euro 2004.
There is, however, a last chance! If this Saturday’s practice match against Ireland turns out to be the bloodless, unwatchable 0-0 I expect, there is no doubt left in my mind that Holland will do exceedingly well in Portugal.
June 2, 2004 at 5:37 am #102373I think jasper makes a good point. Norway used to beat everyone in friendlies, but come the championships we sucked donkey balls and barely gets through the group games. So good friendlies = bad performance in the championships.
Also, if norway had qualified I would of course put up a list that looked more like this:
1.Norway – Spain
2.Norway
3.Morten Gamst PedersenJune 2, 2004 at 8:52 am #102374"Bucky Ramone" wrote:….Tonight’s 3-0 against the mighty Faroer Islands
didn’t make me more optimistic as well…lol, was about to go and see the game for it was played 500m from my home. But it was raining cats & dogs so I just stayed home…..wouldn’t have expected Holland to loose

Anyway should have gone whatever the wheater, a friend of mine was there, apparently it was full of nice orange-colored girls
June 2, 2004 at 11:57 am #102375You guys are talking about the friendly games. It took Holland a tie-break against Scotland even to qualify for the E.C.
I agree with Den Buck about those spoiled young millionairs but ofcourse I hope that he and I never been so wrong before.Just in case, one never can tell, I will pack my orange tee for my trip to Greece and wear it when "we" reach the second round.
During the first round I will wear my black Jamaican tee
June 6, 2004 at 6:36 am #102376Another amazing 1-0 loss againt non-qualifiers Ireland yesterday evening for Holland :slap:
The Irish were so awestruck by the revolutionary tactical concept of the magic midfield diamond ( a concept only coach Dick Advocaat understands…
), that they withdrew within their sixteen yard box, watching the mighty Dutch produce a nice high-quality mess, never ever reaching the attack duo Kluivert/van Nistelrooij, and being very vulnerable to some fast counter-attacks, best Dutchman on the pitch was goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, well, that tells it all…..
June 6, 2004 at 8:14 am #102377What is bothering me much is the way they looked!! So tired, and the E.C starts in 10 days. If I was Dick Advocaat, I would give the players a fiveday holiday and start again.
The good thing was the enjury of Seedorf
, I wish him a summerlong holiday!!June 19, 2004 at 7:39 pm #102378Well, after tonight’s 3-2 loss against the Czech Republic Holland has to win their last game against Latvia, and then still has to depend on the Czechs (who are already qualified for the next round) to at least draw against Germany, somehow I have the feeling that it’ll end in tears…

Tonight’s game was at least at last fun to watch, a fine attacking (and bad defending) game from both sides, Holland throwing away a 2-0 lead, and probably the worst substition of all time by Dutch coach Dick Advocaat, taking the best player of the pitch (left-wing attacker Arjen Robben) to put in an extra defender, after that the Dutch lost their attacking momentum, and the game shifted towards the Czechs who scored a couple of great goals….
June 23, 2004 at 3:02 pm #102379There are some very unhappy Italian fans at my fav coffee place, Bar Italia, a couple blocks from where I live…you should hear the conspiracy theories being tossed around…
