A little bit annoyed to be honest. Pre ordered it, arrived early, but all I can hear is the guitars. The drums are quiet and the vocals are barely noticable.
Maybe you need new speakers. My cd sounds great on both my home stereo (w/Infinity Primus speakers) and in the car. It’s mixed perfectly to my ears — everything’s nice and balanced, and nestled in a bed of fuzzy guitars. Vocals are clear and fully present, as are the drums, and it’s got a decent amount of bass presence. Production- and mix-wise, it sounds far better than Beyond.
Trust me. I don’t need new speakers. Beyond sounds a good as ever.
I bought mine from HMV. Not sure whether to contact them, or to contact the bands management team?
The band’s management have sent this thread along to the UK distribution company. I’ll let you know if I hear anything else!

June 22, 2009 at 2:40 pm #135580Thanks Jeremiah, that’s what I was hoping for. I also left a message on the loobiecore forum since Lou hangs out there a lot. I might post screenshots of the wave files, if required.
June 22, 2009 at 2:50 pm #135581I hope it helps! Really stinks to find that sort of thing out right on the release date. Hopefully it is just an isolated mis-pressing of a small batch but nothing is ever that easy….

Didn’t J once remark that since a guitar sounds better with distortion, a whole record would too?
That was in Our Band Could Be Your Life about YLAOM
June 23, 2009 at 5:37 am #135583Listening to the vinyl version from PIAS right now. Can’t hear anything wrong with it.
June 23, 2009 at 5:44 am #135584I’ve downloaded a version off rapidshare, just to see if it sounds better than my copy and immediately there was a massive difference. I’m going to just send back my copy to HMV and buy from elsewhere.
June 23, 2009 at 5:48 am #135585My CD copy hasen’t arrived yet. But I ordered it from US so it’s probably alright

I should be getting the US 2CD version as import soon, too.

what a drag, eh?"June 29, 2009 at 1:30 pm #135589Update from PIAS via BleeMusic:
Dear Dinosaur Jr. Fans,
Please note that on the European CD version of the Farm album there is an audio problem. This occurred while duplicating the original master in a duplication studio. The problem occurred when the duplicate was produced, as the software program used for this duplication ‘doubled’ the sound layers. This resulted in a 3dB increase in the overall sound volume.
If you have bought a CD of Dinosaur Jr.’s Farm album in a European shop with the bar code number 5414939004926 and you would like to exchange it with a good version, please go the site mentioned below. There you will find more information on how you can see if you have a copy that has this sound problem and how you can get a new copy of the album. This information will be available on this site as of Tuesday June 30th, 11.00 Hrs GMT (12.00 Hrs CET).
Please go to: http://media.pias.com/dinosaurjrfarmcd”>http://media.pias.com/dinosaurjrfarmcd for more info.

A valid email address is required to receive the ringtone. PIAS is now going to cover postage both ways to make this exchange easier and less of an inconvenience for our fans. Once you’ve sent in your bad CD PIAS will include the same amount of stamps, used on your package to get the bad CD to PIAS, in with your replacement copy of Farm. Again, we apologize for this issue and inconvenience. Please go to: http://media.pias.com/dinosaurjrfarmcd”>http://media.pias.com/dinosaurjrfarmcd for more info.
