I have no idea about this site but they apparently have the faulty version up – http://www.deezer.com”>http://www.deezer.com

July 7, 2009 at 4:18 pm #135594I have one of the faulty CD’s and I’m keeping mine for sure!
July 8, 2009 at 3:05 pm #135595I talked to a friend of mine who works at the local record store and he told me that he hasn’t heard anything about the corrupted version and that PIAS did not inform them about the misspressings and they’re still selling off the stock of cd’s that came in a couple of weeks ago ….
July 12, 2009 at 5:34 pm #135596Is the same problem in the downloadable version using the code from the european Farm limited edition double vinyl? Cos I downloaded the files and they sound really bad. Haven’t checked the actual vinyl though, but will tomorrow.
Thanks.

Depends on where you downloaded them. I did see a report of deezer (see my post above) that had bad copies.

I imagine they only contacted those stores that were shipped copies from that batch

But then I don’t remember much from physics class, so it could be that 3db is actually a lot.

I also picked up a flawed copy a couple of weeks ago, so it seems like there are still quite a lot of them out there in stores…
A 3db increase represents pretty much exactly a doubling in power (10 to the power of 3/10 is 1.99526…), so "sounds twice as loud" is right on the money.

Yes, I would think so. In the store I bought it they had put up a sign that informed about the mastering error and the customers could choose between the flawed and the correct version.
I knew it would pay off that freakscene has its own physicist, thanks for the math maxini
