In an ideal world, nothing need be said in a review of a new album by Dinosaur Jr. The general public would just go and buy it in droves, you’d hear it pumping out of every car window and shop, and the country would grow long hair and kick living hell out of the hordes of crappy Topshop styled bands that have been allowed to exist for far too long.

Possibly the best thing anybody has ever said.

            Pitchfork review: 8.5

            Quote:
With Farm coming out around the same time as the first installment in Neil Young’s Archives project, it’s tempting to make a grand statement about Mascis and Dinosaur Jr. as heirs to the Young and Crazy Horse throne. Young’s genius is pretty inimitable, but there is something about this band– the way they mix noisy guitar and punk-ish slam with sugared melodies and faded choruses– that’s Young-worthy. And as long as J, Lou, and Murph keep shooting as high as Farm, they’ll end up with the kind of discography worth buying over and over again.

holy smokes. best new music. here’s to dino!

For what it’s worth, this guy seems especially critical in general so this is a pretty good review from him. Of course his reviews are limited to 140 characters…
