Got stuck in a De Soto over the week, had time to catch up on some bible studies. Anybody wanna share their favorite bible characters, stories, or verses? I like the story about how it created the rainbow to remind us it would never flood the world again. The story of Cain is cool too, tiller of the ground, and slayer of abel.

and I want to try to bring forth the Tribe of Levi. :)

You are so nutty, I’m going to take this post as serious, even though I have no idea why I should.

This one I have been coming back to lately, if you practice this, it is like MAGIC, but none the less, it is
difficult, I don’t know what would be more difficult, learning to play music as well as J Mascis, or following this bit of advice. ………………secret magic christ formula…………………………

        Mathew 5 ver. 44-46

[glow=red,2,300][/glow][glow=red,2,300]But now I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. So that you may become like
your father in heaven. Why should God reward you if you love only those who love you? That’s easy![/glow]

        Romans 12 ver. 14-16

[glow=red,2,300]Ask God to bless those who persecute you-ask him to bless, not to curse. [/glow] (hey, this is really hard, not to long ago I threw myself on the ground, banging my head against my fist, because I just could not yet bring myself to ask God to bless this particular person.) [glow=red,2,300] Be happy with those who are happy, cry with those who cry. Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties.[/glow]

AND MY ALL TIME FAVORITE (for the moment) For everyone who wants to know what they should do with their lives, or what direction to go…………

        Romans 12 ver. 2

[glow=red,2,300]DO NOT conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you wil be able to know what is good and what is bad. You will be able to know the will of God for your life. [/glow]

My daughter was just in a musical at church on Sunday, they did Jonah and the whale, it was very good (alot better than I thought it would be). So that story is a pretty good one. I always liked David and Goliath, and for some reason the whole Soddom and Gamorrah thing too.

Annastefka, what version is that from? It seems a bit modern but still makes the same points as other versions.

I don’t really have a "favorite" but I’d say the whole story of Christ being God in human form, being the perfect sacrifice and rising from the dead is pretty awesome. I get lost a little in the Old Testament but love pretty much everything in the New Testament. When I was a kid I really liked Sampson and Delilah.

It is modern (although) it was first printed in in the 1970’s, that was from the "Todays English Version"
              Bible.

A truly rich person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.

…first off i love the Bible, i even believe in god after reading such a book, but my favorite verse is Genesis 1:6, right off the bat god creates a dome to keep the water from falling out of the sky onto earth, most bibles even have a drawling; this really freaks out serious bibleheads, so god wrote the book but wait did he forget that the world was round and that space wasn’t just water waiting to be let into the dome he created, dome = sky, sorry god you must have been thinking rather drinking when you got your prophets to write that one…

A lot of people think this justifies a "canopy theory" and that this dome was some sort of weird greenhouse sort of thing. So rather than having periodic rain, there was just this canopy that kept everything growing and whatnot. I’m not sure why they feel the need to explain that but I’ve heard this argument. I’m with you on this one though, pretty sure that’s just the sky we’re talking about here.

Some well known songwriter used this small biblestory in one of his songs:

Samson and Delilah would have made a crazy pair
if that silly woman hadn’t shaven off his hair

…yeah the Bible is crazy, i was raised catholic and asked the priest one day about all these wired things and stuff and he told me that the Bible isn’t meant to be taken seriously word for word that most of it never really happened but the stories are meant to teach lessons; i was ready to quit the freakin’ whole thing but my parents wouldn’t let me till i got confirmed, then my first decision as an adult in the church was not to goto church anymore, i mean not ture stuff being drilled into the heads of kids as fact yet when you get a priest in the corner they throw up smoke and mirrors, but like i said i love the Bible, you have to respect any book the has lasted that long, for whatever reason, there is obviously something to be gained by a book like that…
