I can’t believe Green Mind ranks so low on peoples lists.
1 – Where you been – Best guitar work IMHO
2 – Green Mind
3 – Your Living all over me
4 – Martin & Me
5 – Bug
6 – Dinosaur
7 – Hand it Over
8 – Fossils
9 – Bubble and Scrape oh sorry
9 – Without a Sound – IT Bores meThe Jury is out on more light still but I would place it around 5 or 6
Not doing that fineNovember 10, 2000 at 6:31 pm #572471. You’re Living All Over Me
2 Bug — what do you mean there are bad songs on here. the only bad song is "don’t" nobody better say They always come, let it ride, the post, budge, or pond songs are bad.
3. Without a Sound — I think J should have continued in this style. The songs aren’t as immediately catchy but they are more personal and emotional.
4. Where You Been
5. Hand It Over
6. Green Mind — Wagon, I live for that look, and Water are Ace
7. Dinosaur — has some great songs on it
November 10, 2000 at 7:20 pm #57248I am very with you on the BUG thing, They Always Come is amazing!!!!!

November 10, 2000 at 11:16 pm #57249They always come is possibly my single favorite dinosaur jr song.
The album is different from the others it doesn’t have the folky open chordness of the others but rather a tight songs superstaurated with effects. A sonic treat.

November 22, 2000 at 11:44 am #57252Do you think if Dinosaur was produced better it would be higher on peoples lists?
Not doing that fineDecember 7, 2000 at 8:31 pm #57253Here’s my list:
1) You’re Living All Over Me (definitely one of my all time top ten albums)
2) Bug (ALL songs are great)
3) Where You Been (the best solos…)
4) Green Mind (Water is perhaps the best Dino song of all time)
5) Whatever’s Cool With Me (especially the Bowie-cover Quicksand)

Go you good thang’.January 2, 2001 at 10:45 am #57256I really don’t understand why Green Mind was received so badly. The music press over here slammed J for it (I know that that doesn’t really mean anything), and a lot of my old friends dissed it when it was released (although it did represent a slight change in styles from YLAOM, Dinosaur and Bug). For me, the first glimpses of what would become songs like Ammaring, Over Your Shoulder, Keeblin’ etc were all on show, and some of the tracks on this album are so full of emotion you expect to hear someone crying in the background.
Plus the high pitched "How ya doin" at the beginning of Green Mind gave us kids in the UK something different to say than "alright geezer
January 8, 2001 at 12:30 pm #572571) Dinosaur – it is so sad and bleak I can’t listen to it all the way through. The sound is completely different to the others as well as it doesn’t have the wall of sludge that we know and love.
2) Hand it over – again pretty sad
3) Bug – a spewing sonic sewer
4) YLOAM – it has THE LUNG on it
5) All the others
